Buildings swaying
Roads tumbling
Earth shaking
Disoriented
Foundations crumbling
People running
Fear mounting
Fires burning
You
Me
We
When
Our world
Shatters
Terrified
Looking back to see
Retreating tide withdrawn
High water wall, giant rising
Rushing miles inland
Tsunami
Ocean falling over walls
Waves crashing boats
Water throwing cars
Sucking people out of rooms
Devastation

Tall buildings crushed
Windows out exploded
Jagged glass cutting
Muddy water climbing walls
Strewn splinters piling high
Useless
Aftershocks shaking
Surveying our landscape
Roads gaping wide chasms
Roofs falling into cellars
Disbelief
Clearing paths
Repairing roads
Picking up what was
Cleaning what remains
Rebuilding
My world shaking
My life shattering
My home: obliterated, gone
Uncertainty: my new friend
Wondering
Familiar evaporating
Piles of ruin stinking
Burying bodies and my grief
Lingering, stalk the dark thoughts
Pondering
Order emerges out of chaos
Hope jumps into our hearts
Creates new thoughts, new ways
Discovering within new strength
