Dennys: News Politics Comedy Science Arts & Food: Funny Colbert Interviews Ancient Deal Maker Henry Kissinger

Henry Kissinger, long time member of secret World Order Bilderberg Group

Dennys: News Politics Comedy Science Arts & Food: Funny Colbert Interviews Ancient Deal Maker Henry Kissinger: "From Denny: Nixon's point man to open Communist China to the world, and the early stages of free trade, was former GOP Sec.of State Henry Kissinger. Yes, blame him for losing your job and getting crappy quality imports.

Kissinger, 88-years-old, is hawking his new book 'On China.' Well, at least he didn't bore us with a long title. (Check out the link on Amazon.)

Kissinger did manage to hold his own with the crazy antics of Colbert. In fact, the old guy was good humored and rolled with the punches. He was Colbert's straight man every stand-up comic adores to use on stage."

Poems From A Spiritual Heart: Stephen Colbert Interviews Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg About Poetry

Poems From A Spiritual Heart: Stephen Colbert Interviews Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg About Poetry: "From Denny: While Stephen Colbert, of The Colbert Report, is known for his satire and wildly funny self, he does manage to do some almost serious interviews. In this case, Caroline Kennedy, daughter of President John F. Kennedy, is rolling out a book of poetry.

This book, 'She Walks In Beauty,' is comprised of men writing poems about women to celebrate them. The collection is about women celebrating themselves, describing the special connection women have to poetry from growing up in the world of emotion."

A Thought poem - Libations Friday 3 Dec 2010

Have you ever thought about the hidden words behind the words spoken out loud?

A Thought

I heard a thought today

spoken with beauty words

and an ugly uncaring heart

it made my heart sink down

and fall with a painful thud

Lil' Heart Just For You

the day traveled on and

then there was a simple man

who spoke his mind and

gave plain words from love

my heart looked up again

Heart

Funny Christmas Conversations Story

Do you remember the funny and downright lame excuses your parents used to give you when talking about Santa coming to visit on Christmas Eve? 3 videos.

Le Père Noël en chair et en barbe !

From Denny:  Think back. How much can you remember about the things your parents used to tell you about Santa? This Christmas Eve my husband and I started that conversation. Though we have been married many years there were still some things we did not know about each other.

We laughed about the incredible stories our parents told us on Christmas Eve. It was becoming a contest between whose parents were the most outrageous storytellers. I think my husband’s parents won that contest as his mother was mostly Irish. The Irish have quite the reputation for storytelling even after generations of living in America. Bonnie was highly intelligent, creative, charming and just so endearing that she quickly became my favorite person in his family. She really insisted upon keeping a positive attitude, living the joy of life no matter what was going on around her.

Wars Overseas, Wars in Congress, Wars in White House, New Book: Obamas Wars

Wars overseas, wars in Congress and wars in the White House are why our government is not working.

From Denny: Were there really any surprises here? For the past 20 months the President and his staff have argued about the Iraq and Afghan Wars. OK, debate is always a good idea but it seems they are as mired as the Army generals running the wars. Come on, guys, after 7 years for one and 9 years for the other, isn't it about time to call it quits? You have worn out the goodwill of the public and our wallets.

"Obama's Wars" by veteran journalist Bob Woodward portrays a deeply divided White House. Few believed this troop surge would work. Obama wanted faster results from his generals. The generals do what generals do: Tell everyone else they are stupid, we know what we are doing and don't question us.

It turns out that originally Obama did not want to escalate in Afghanistan because he rightly felt he only had two years with the American public and then they would want out of the country. Clearly, the President desired an exit strategy. Guess the Taliban surge changed that idea. When he set a timetable for withdrawal Obama said he had to do it: "I can't lose the whole Democratic Party."

Woodward also stated that the CIA is running an all-Afghan 3,000 strong paramilitary group in Afghanistan to hunt down the Taliban and other al-Qaida targets. It was confirmed today by the usual anonymous sources.

A couple of favorite quotes from the book:

Vice President Biden, known for his spicy candor, called former Clinton administration Richard Holbrooke "the most egotistical bastard I've ever met." Agreed. How a guy with that much bad attitude could ever make it as a diplomat is a mystery.

Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, fussed about his vice chairman, Gen. James Cartwright, for "going behind his back." Control freak general.

Cartwright blew off Mullen because he "wasn't a war fighter." Childish general who thinks he doesn't have to respect anyone.

Gen. David Petraeus, the new Afghanistan commander, remarked he disliked talking with David Axelrod, the president's senior adviser, because he was "a complete spin doctor." Agreed; the guy is totally tone deaf, ineffective and a lousy choice for a senior advisor when all his decisions have been disastrous.

More in house fighting? Adm. Dennis Blair, then the national intelligence director, duked it out with Rahm Emanuel, White House chief of staff, and John Brennan, the counter-terrorism adviser. Guess the guy likes overwhelming odds.

Woodward also reported about there was intelligence depicting Afghan President Hamid Karzai was diagosed as manic-depressive and on medication. In a country like that where you sweat out staying alive from minute to minute who wouldn't be on meds? Of course, the Karzai team denies it.

Let's hope President Obama changes out a number of his team in favor of people who will work together to solve problems instead of staking out the usual turf wars. Either that or hire a group of referees because it looks like they are going to need them.

Waking The Day poem - Libations Friday 17 Sept 2010

When the day - and I - awaken, present in the moment.

Waking The Day

When I suddenly awakened from the long night’s hot summer sleep

The energizing scent of coffee brewing wafted around the corner.

I stumbled in the dark, bouncing off the doorway, fumbling for the kitchen lights.

I saw cats waiting eagerly at the back door, wide-eyed nocturnal keepers of the yard.

Measuring out fresh food into their three bowls, then wisely throwing open the door.

They looked up at me, measuring me more than their food, wondering how awake,

Hugging the doorway, quietly gliding through the opening instead of their usual burst.

The golden tiger cat squeaked his morning gossip of the neighborhood nightly report.

Steaming dark brown coffee breathed foggy swirls, spilling into the pristine mug.

The hot libation slid down my throat as it gave off its sweet Ethiopian perfume.

Drinking coffee before speaking plays first in the slumbering beginnings at my house.

Glancing at the cats, all lined in a row, they ate heartily as if miners just off a long shift.

I stepped out into the night to view the sparkling stars before they faded to the day.

The sky was astounding in its simple beauty; the love planet Venus the brightest smile.

How could anyone not smile in return when the planets seem to speak lovingly to us?

So many stars, so many messages written in the sky, our Universe speaks unceasingly.

Pouring another offering of coffee, I pulled up a chair on the porch to view the lake.

I could witness early morning on the water a thousand times, never to be disappointed.

Smoke rose on the water, little ghostly fingers walking forward on the mirrored surface.

Three mallard ducks emerged from the mist, swimming my way, dancing long strides.

Huge prehistoric wings filled the air with a swooping sound and blanketed darkness.

A blue heron landed to fish his breakfast, blending into the smoky gray surrounding mist.

Soon a white egret flew in from the east, careful to move down to another fishing hole.

In the dim light a neighbor fished, sitting, pole in hand as his coffee scent filled the air.

Faint pink embers, the growing light, were filling the sky just above the rooftop horizon.

The blue heron stalked the shallows on his long legs, searching the moving warm waters.

A sudden splash, beak dove down, retrieving a huge fish he flung high on to the bank.

The egret caught small fishes, silver glints in the sunlight, tossed into the air, swallowed.

Two cups of coffee later it was time to check back in the house to rouse my husband.

Entering the room, he slumbered peacefully, his breath shallow; I knew he was awake.

The golden tiger cat pounced onto the bed and onto his chest, demanding attention.

His eyes closed, my husband smiled and knew he had not fooled either one of us.

The Understanding poem - Libations Friday 10 Sept 2010

We build Peace in our lives a moment at a time - and this is a poem story of how it can start early in childhood as it did for me.

The Understanding

My thoughts flew back to primary school

When I heard the news today about a woman in Iran

Who was condemned as a scapegoat for evil men.

Women in her culture are considered subhuman and

Deserving of whatever is heaped upon them.

They just have to bear the injustice and cruelty.

I remember another female who was blamed

Through no fault of her own. It was accepted.

The kids at school thought it fine to harm her.

The kids at school treated her as subhuman.

What was so horrible about her that everyone

Thought it acceptable to treat her shamefully?

She was French-Canadian.

My father was stationed in Maine during that time.

Eleanor’s father moved her often as he followed one

Engineering project to the next engineering project.

Her mother had died the year before and Eleanor,

Well, Eleanor felt lost and alone. She forgot how to smile.

Then one day Eleanor came to our school to join us.

I could tell Eleanor needed a friend so I walked up to visit.

Eleanor was surprised at the offer of kindness and friendship.

I asked why and she replied, “Because I’m French-Canadian.”

To which I answered, “So? What has that got to do with anything?”

“Do you want to play with us on the swing set or not?” She followed

And we enjoyed laughing while we pushed our swings higher.

Soon the kids began to gravitate away from our area.

It was as if we were contagious. Then a boy called to me.

He whispered in my ear, “She’s French-Canadian, you know.”

He scampered off to join the growing group away from us.

“I tried to warn you,” Eleanor said sadly. “It’s always like this.”

“Do you want me to go?” Her eyes pleaded not to send her away.

“Keep swinging,” I said. “They aren’t going to spoil our fun.”

Eleanor slowed her swing, wondering what was going to happen next.

Soon, a group of big boys bunched up together to approach us.

Eleanor wanted to run away from them. I stopped my swing and stood up.

The boys told me not to friend “the French-Canadian.” I shook my head “No.”

The boys moved closer, trying to intimidate me. I asked what was the problem.

“Because she’s a French-Canadian,” they accused like it was a dirty word.

“Let me see if I understand you correctly. You hate her because she is French and from Canada. Correct?” They nodded a “Yes.”

“Now has she ever said anything cruel to you?”

“Well, no,” said the lead boy.

“Has she ever insulted or harmed your parents or any of your friends?”

The lead boy scratched his head while his sidekicks nervously shifted their stance, “Come to think of it, no, she hasn’t harmed any of us.”

“So, what’s the problem?” I asked.

“Well, she is French-Canadian,” stated the lead boy.

“So, what you are saying is that she is of French heritage and was born in Canada. Yet she speaks English just like us. She acts like us. What’s the problem?

“Do you and your parents live at Camp Stupid or something?”

I was losing patience with them.

The big boy started to grow angry at me for calling him “stupid,” raising his fist.

Fighting ready, I was the strongest football kicker, well placed on mean boys.

Both Eleanor and the group standing behind the lead boy were growing scared.

I might have been the size of a gnat compared to the lead bully but he did not hit me.

The crowd knew I wasn’t scared of him and would stand my ground no matter what.

The crowd drew away from the boy when they realized he could not break me.

Suddenly, the boy slowly lowered his fist and a strange look came over his face.

I recognized that look and was thankful for it. It was the look of awareness.

He looked at me then at her, shook his head, mumbling about French-Canadians.

The boy turned to leave and then looked back at us, gesturing us to follow.

“Well, come on, do you two want to play with us or what?”

He saw me give him a suspicious look, not trusting his next move.

“Camp Stupid is a bad place. None of it makes any sense of why not to like her.”

Eleanor glowed with acceptance – at last. Such was my first foray into civil rights.

It was one of many firsts of negotiating with bullies, some dangerous, some not.

I stood my ground before that day and stood my ground for decades since then.

But I never forgot how good Eleanor felt that day when she learned that being

French-Canadian no longer carried a stigma for her. That day all the power was

Taken out of those two words, and now, well, they were just words.
