From Denny: The usual rumors are swirling in the political sphere. And the usual political skunks like Axelrod and Plouffe are lying their asses off to convince their fellow Democrats how committed they are to this President. Now who believes that drivel? It's because of these guys, Axelrod and Plouffe, are the very political advisers who have ignored proper governing of this country, creating the past two years of mess in this country. They kept "handling" the public instead of going to work on the many tough issues like unemployment. No one really cares when you pass a weak health care bill that does not help the middle class. No one cares when you continue to dance to the tune of Big Business when it hurts the middle class. No one cares when you pass weak credit card legislation that does nothing to protect consumers in a meaningful way. Axelrod and Plouffe are the very reasons this presidency is so ineffective. And now they want the job of Chief of Staff? Deliver us from them, Mr. President! These two have been pushing Rahm out the door since day one, trying to get his job - and now you plan to hand it to them? Names on the short list of candidates being tossed around:Vice President Biden's chief of staff Ron Klain White House senior advisor Valerie Jarrett Deputy National Security Advisor Tom Donilon White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina Obama's 2008 campaign manager, David PlouffeFormer Senator Majority (and Minority) Leader Tom DaschleAmerica is in dire straits economically, Mr. President. This is simply not the time for the personal ambitions of dressing up their resumes of which your Chicago group is so fond. This is the time for someone with a personal agenda that is not at odds with the needs of the American middle class and small businesses. What you need is a former or sitting Senator. You need someone with long lengthy friendships in the Senate that knows the quirks and what makes them tick. This is what hurt President Jimmy Carter and why he failed in his presidency. He simply did not possess the inner workings of the Washington network.None of your candidates has that network of relationships in the Senate. Rahm had them in the House and that's why he was so successful getting so many bills passed with Speaker Pelosi. But Senator Harry Reid fell down on the job and Rahm couldn't help him with the Senate to get your agenda going. The only person qualified on your list who knows how to work in the trenches is former Senator Tom Daschle. He has the long standing relationships, the intricate knowledge of Senate rules like the late Senator Byrd, and he has the finesse for which you have longed in dealing with the Republicans. Hire anyone else and you are doomed to fail. Offer Dashchle whatever it takes to get him on board yesterday. Don't wait yet another two months before making a decision. Rahm's mind is already running for Chicago mayor and now his head in not in the game. This country needs a faster response time federal government. It's easy to get caught up in The Beltway mindset where the whole area works for the government or benefits from reporting on the government. Everyone there is quite comfortable getting their regular paychecks and affordable health care. There isn't the desperation about the economy in your immediate atmosphere. The decisions you make now will take as long as another two years to play out effectively. A big ship is hard to turn in the water and harder still to move quickly. Scumbag WikiLeaks Founder Assange Charged With Rape in Sweden
*** Sweden charges WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, with rape and molestation.
From Denny: This guy acts like he's some great crusader for the truth and the world's morality and it turns out this week he is charged in Sweden for rape and molestation. The rape charge carries a prison sentence but the molestation charge does not. Molestation can be charged for an adult as well as a child in Sweden.Julian Assange has the moral compass of a turnip - buried in the ground away from the light of day. He has to be a sociopath to have no conscience. Looks like someone finally got busy and charged the creep. Or maybe the U.S. government decided to make like the tabloid The National Enquirer and document his doings and then sent them along to Interpol and the Swede's prosecutors. He was charged in absentia last night. They are two different incidents. The Swedish government is not yet releasing the names of the victims or the dates of the incidents, pending further investigation and documentation. Currently, Assange is eluding the police.Turns out that Assange lives part time in Sweden. It is also in Sweden that he hosts many of his WikiLeaks servers because of the country's privacy laws. He also told a Swedish newspaper, Svenska Dagbladet, Monday in an interview, "He had been in Sweden because he wanted a safe place to go after the high-profile leak of U.S. documents related to the war in Afghanistan." Gee, "Do ya think???"Apparently, Assange is well acquainted with Stupid because through his WikiLeaks site he released thousands of sensitive information documents that led to the deaths of hundreds of Afghans who cooperated with America in the Afghan War, as well as endangering the lives of allied forces. This guy has no conscience. So why is it any stretch of the imagination to accept he is guilty of yet more "depraved indifference"? Rape and molestation. May the heavy hand of justice fall upon him.*** Update: Sweden drops rape accusation against WikiLeaks founderHmmm... Sweden suddenly dropped the rape charge as quickly as they charged him. Interesting that the molestation charge is not dropped. Question: Did WikiLeaks put pressure on the victims to recant their stories and only one accepted the monetary bribe or bowed to threats from Assange? Or is it that Assange is the subject of an American smear campaign? This guy is no Boy Scout, folks, he's as guilty as ever. Somehow, he had enough stroke to force the Swedes to back off. Another scummy government and Big Business deal in bed together denying justice: Just like BP had stroke to get the British government to release a prisoner back to Libya because he was supposedly dying. Now the truth has come out about those lies. All that was about was an oil deal for BP to drill off Libya in exchange for the prisioner. The government tried to justify the swap by claiming the prisioner was dying when he wasn't. We all know from the BP publicity smear machine just how Big Business propaganda operates and the WikiLeaks guys are no different. They are constantly lying, trying to influence perception away from the truth. Assange has been caught in many lies about this Afghan War story so why should we believe him on this rape story?More government weak-willed weasels here with this Assange story, this time in Sweden - and women lose out for justice again. Though I get the distinct impression this is not the last we will hear of this story because it will make it's rounds again in another form when other women step forward.*** To the spamming anonymous cowardly wonder from Digg: I see WikiLeaks is busy trashing anyone who writes about their company, sending out their minions to threaten and cuss out anyone who dares to go against them. So, coward who chooses to remain nameless - yeah, you are so brave to spam a blog anonymously, you just proved my point. WikiLeaks, the founder and his supporters, are a bunch of scumbags without conscience who think they can go around threatening people. Good luck with the FBI; you are going to need it.*** THANKS for visiting, feel welcome to drop a comment or opinion, enjoy bookmarking this post on your favorite social site, a big shout out to awesome current subscribers – and if you are new to this blog, please subscribe in a reader or by email updates! *** Come by for a visit and check out my other blogs:The Social Poets - news, politicsThe Soul Calendar - science, astronomy, psychologyVisual Insights - photos, art, musicBeautiful Illustrated Quotations - spiritual quotes, philosophyPoems From A Spiritual Heart - poetryThe Healing Waters - health newsDennys People Watching - people in the newsDennys Food and RecipesDennys Funny Quotes - humor

Obama Blasted for Saying Religious Tolerance OK in America
*** Republicans try to turn the Constitution into an issue for the November elections - now they are against religious freedom for anyone not Christian.
From Denny: The Republicans try to twist and turn the truth any chance they get - and they go in front of the cameras smirking. They desperately want this comment about religious freedom and tolerance to blow up in the face of the Democrats. The Republicans should have stuck to the House ethics issue. You can't one minute be for the Constitution and the next minute be against it. Gee, "Do ya think?" the Republicans are those Famous Flip Floppers??? :)Prez Obama made the clear statement about everyone deserves the right in America to enjoy religious freedom of worship. He's correct. I also like it that he chose to make his statement - and clarification - on his own rather than through White House Team Obama proxies who always seem to screw up his message. Those who are American citizens and own their own property have the right to use it as they will within the guidelines of the local ordinances. So what if they want to put up a mosque near Ground Zero?Does it look insensitive? Well, yeah. Is it wise? I don't think so. Why encourage more religious or cultural hatred and practically paint a bullseye target on your chest? But look at it this way. There are a large number of really sleazy strip clubs in that area. Someone needs to pray about the morality of the area. It sure doesn't look like the Christian community stepped up. Maybe the Muslim community can do some good here. Any way you look at it they are American citizens who have the right to religious freedom. They have the right to live as first class citizens in their own country. My suggestion to them is to invite all faiths to join them in this building. Provide offices for other religions and areas of combined worship or meetings, turning this project into more than improving Muslim relations with America. Turn it into an interfaith center.

Speaker Pelosi Champions Unemployed, Orders House Back From Vacation
*** Speaker Pelosi relentlessly drives hard to pass two important bills: keep teachers in the classrooms and hire the unemployed out of work for two years.
Nancy "Give 'Em Hell" Pelosi takes no prisoners in CongressFrom Denny: Go get 'em, Nancy! Now THIS is government at work! "I will be calling the House back into session early next week to save teachers' jobs and help seniors & children," Pelosi said via Twitter this afternoon. From CBS: "The measure extends programs enacted in the stimulus package, with $16 billion for state health care programs and $10 billion to help school boards avoid teacher layoffs."Two bills: Medicaid, avoid teacher layoffs and funding for longest unemployedWhat's going on? House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ordered House members back to work to pass important pending bills, like first to pass a funding package for Medicaid and teachers. There's another bill in the Senate she is also motivating Senators to pass, most notably for the folks known as The 99ers, people who have been out of work for the past two years and no longer receive any unemployment benefits.Congress was scheduled for an entire month on holiday during August while other Americans face horrific financial and employment struggles. Well, The 99ers got smart and finally organized as a political group. They have threatened to take their case to the polls in November. Now we're talking about getting the attention of lawmakers.Unemployed for as long as two years: The 99ersAs you read this post, every day there are an additional 50,000 people who fall off the unemployment benefits roll because they no longer qualify after receiving benefits for the duration of 99 weeks. Unemployment is unprecedented in America since 70 years ago during The Great Depression. Big Business continues to insult the American worker, sending their jobs overseas. Big Business continues to screw over The Middle Class workerBig Business also imports foreign workers through unchecked visa programs like Microsoft set up with President Bush - and the practice continues today as Prez Obama has not stemmed the tide. That's where all the high tech jobs went: Americans got kicked to the side while foreign workers, willing to work for lower wages and no real benefits, filled the jobs in America. Gee, if billionaire Bill Gates of Microsoft wants to give away half his fortune like he claims, why doesn't he do something about the very mess he created where he displaced thousands of American workers every year for a decade?Russia paid a visit to Silicon Valley to recruit back their tech people from AmericaYou only had to watch the news a few weeks ago as the Russian President came to America to visit, you guessed it, Russian high tech workers in Silicon Valley. Clearly, Putin is trying to sweet talk the Russians home so they can reverse engineer our American technology for free. The Russian workers were suspicious and fearful of their President trying to woo them back home. Yeah, I would not want to go back to that after living in America either. The problem is that we have plenty of Americans who qualify for those high tech jobs and yet they are denied those same jobs because foreign workers on visa programs are filling them.
New unemployment Senate billIntroduced by Senator Debbie Stabenow, Democrat, Michigan, and co-sponsored by Senator Charles Schumer, Democrat, New York, is a new bill to finally come to the rescue and help The 99ers. This bill extends unemployment benefits for an additional 20 weeks. They did not leave it at that as they have added incentives to the employers to get motivated to hire those who have been out of work the longest. As it stands, Big Business has ordered employment agencies to reject for consideration interviews anyone who is out of work. In order to get hired a prospective employee must already have a job.Incentives for employers to hire The 99ersThe Hire Act will be extending tax cuts as well as increase tax cuts for an additional year to those businesses that hire these four to five million people currently out of work for two years. Now THIS is a great idea for jobs creation. Tax incentives + tax breaks = jobs creation. This bill is now called the Americans Want to Work Act.

*** Update 5 Aug 2010: Senate Passes Bill to Save Teacher, Police Jobs - The House Reconvenes Next Week to Take Up $26 Billion Measure, which Won't Increase Budget Deficit. This just passed the Senate, preserving about 300,000 jobs across America by extending programs in last year's stimulus plan. It passed by the vote of 61 - 39. That was after months of stalling tactics by the heartless Republicans. The House votes on it next week for a final vote to send this bill to the President.*** THANKS for visiting, feel welcome to drop a comment or opinion, enjoy bookmarking this post on your favorite social site, a big shout out to awesome current subscribers – and if you are new to this blog, please subscribe in a reader or by email updates! *** Come by for a visit and check out my other blogs:The Social Poets - news, politicsThe Soul Calendar - science, astronomy, psychologyVisual Insights - photos, art, musicBeautiful Illustrated Quotations - spiritual quotes, philosophyPoems From A Spiritual Heart - poetryThe Healing Waters - health newsDennys People Watching - people in the newsDennys Food and RecipesDennys Funny Quotes - humorThursday, July 15, 2010
BP Plays Games With Oil Spill, Democrats Face Huge Losses in November
*** The Democrats and the Republicans refuse to solve the problems in this country and are allowing it to fall into the economic abyss. BP screws over rightful claimants.
BP playing games with people's livesFrom Denny: For all the efforts of the Obama White House, BP continues to play games with people's lives down here on the Gulf Coast. There's even an attorney in Texas who has been suing BP for years and says this typical bad attitude and stingy behavior is their SOP - standard operating procedure.BP's Dirty Little Legal StrategiesBP attorneys know that average people can't hold out for long. The average middle class person does not have the cash reserves of a multi-national corporation. It's a game of "wait and see who blinks first" because the average person cannot hold out beyond a few months. They cash in their kids' college funds, deplete their savings and retirement accounts, sell off stocks and bonds, you name it - all to pay the groceries and stay afloat another day. Eventually, the average middle class person runs out of things to sell or accounts to raid and they are cooked, forced into bankruptcy court. Going into bankruptcy court is exactly the tactic BP is playing because, again, it will delay by months, maybe years, any reckoning for BP. BP gets to walk away free as a bird while leaving a wide swath of devastation in their wake.BP is counting on the average people hurt by this environmental disaster, mostly very small businesses, to fold and take a small settlement for all their financial ruin and emotional anguish. There are thousands of people who have rightful claims who are being delayed for months or denied for capricious reasons. No matter how many times the national media have reported this outrageous behavior from BP the practices have not stopped. The President must step in to discipline BPIt's time for the President to step in and resolve this garbage from BP. For the federal government to go around suing Arizona over what is an impractical law to enforce anyway and then suing Louisiana because they are trying to keep their economy afloat is not what I expect from my federal government. Both states are strapped for funds, only making the situations far worse for the populace. The federal government should be in the business of suing Big Business for all the havoc they have wreaked upon this economy by sending jobs overseas that started this tumbling into unpaid debts. Big Banks have yet to be brought to heel like the behemoth junkyard dogs they are, taking advantage of biting the public just "because they can," knowing no one will put a stop to their shady bullying practices. From the very beginning of this oil spill environmental disaster, BP started sledgehammering the surviving oil workers - from the 22 April explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig - by forcing them to sign waivers that BP was not at fault. That happened within hours of being rescued at sea and the survivors were taken to yet another offshore oil rig to be interrogated and pressured into signing away their rights to sue BP for injuries. Funny thing, though, those oil rigs are within our national waters as well as within Louisiana jurisdiction. It's a long standing tradition in Louisiana, because of the old French Napoleonic Code, that you can never sign away your rights, even under duress. The courts protect the rights of the average citizen. At the rate we are going it actually may be the Louisiana courts who will save the day instead of who should be the standard bearers for the American people: our federal government and the President. As it stands, the now increasingly desperate middle class does not have a champion in this White House and we have not had a champion to fight for us for ten years now. The American people cannot hold out any longer. Something must be done.November Elections could prove tragic for allOf course, the American people are primed to take matters into their own hands come election time this November. The House is said to have about a possible 67 seat loss if the voting attitude remains ugly. The Senate is looking at losing anywhere from three to ten seats for the Democrats. This Democratic Congress frittered away their majority by passing useless and often damaging legislation, still not taking care of the middle class. All they did was answer to their Big Business handlers.Speaker Pelosi, an American political heroine under appreciatedThe notable exception was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who has done all the heavy lifting by delivering almost 300 passed bills. What did Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid accomplish? He passed only one bill - gift-wrapped by Pelosi. All of those bills should have been easy slam dunks. Reid needs to be replaced. Clearly, he is no former Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle who cleverly outmaneuvered the Republicans at every turn to make the most for the Democrats. Speaking of Daschle, this White House needs to hire him and use his organizational skills to head up this economic initiative I've suggested in my last posts. Either that or get him to teach the next Senate leader how to handle the heat and get things passed in a timely manner and not watered down into oblivion.Democrats gang up on Press Secretary Gibbs for speaking the truthMany Democratic leaders are angry at Press Secretary Gibbs for speaking the obvious. First of all, he was not hired to be a diplomat or a politician. He's a journalist and a man of integrity. Lay off his one yard line. He isn't the problem; you are. The public is angry at all the politicians for handling huge problems so ineptly and not in a timely manner. Don't take it out on Gibbs for speaking to the truth of your political consequences where you have fallen down on the job. Do the job we hired you to do. We hired all of you and we can fire you. It's time the American public get some respect around here. You are in office to serve us - not the other way around. Get that thought straight in your heads and we will finally be on the same page to pull together to get problems solved.Get Axelrod out of the daily White House NOWThe whole reason this White House trotted out Gibbs for the talk shows is because they did some polling to discover that Axelrod polls lousy. People do trust Gibbs as he polls well with the public. People don't trust Axelrod and it's no wonder as his own body language betrays him. The man is always sneering contempt at others. Watch him in interview with Jon Stewart, a case in point of many. Stewart kept backing up with aversion from Axelrod who was trying to blow some charm past him. Stewart clearly did not trust or like Axelrod.Put Axelrod out in the political field for electionsIf this White House actually wants to continue to hold onto Axelrod then get him out of the daily White House, off the talk shows, and back into the political field getting candidates elected. That's what he is good enough at doing and that is all he should be doing. He has failed miserably at policy advice, especially the domestic agenda. His calls have hit it wrong every time for 18 months now. Don't allow Axelrod's bad prognosticating to take down this first African-American presidency just because you don't have the stomach to part ways with an old friend. Who needs friends that stab you in the back at every turn? Axelrod is not just tone deaf he is heart deaf and truly cannot identify or understand those who are suffering in this country. Move him and his aides down the road where they can be useful. How the American public is getting ready to vote: no more corporate politiciansWhat both the Democrats and the Republicans are not paying enough attention to is that the public is so disillusioned with the political process they will not vote at all. The flip side of that scenario is they just may decide to vote and will start voting in all the obscure political candidates. If you think you have a mess now arguing over political philosophies and trying to pass legislation, welcome to the chaotic world of twenty different political parties sitting at the table instead of two. The public may just hit on the idea to only vote in non-corporate politicians, if they have to reach down to the third tier candidates to get any real representation. That's going to put in office some real loony tunes like the Tea Party, the Modern Whig Party or communists. Then there are others like the Libertarians who basically don't believe in government and would dismantle all the safety regulations in place. The Green Party is worldwide and promotes some great ideas but refuses to protect the citizens with any force. Here's just a short list of possibilities that could either improve or screw up our politics beyond repair:America First Party - conservativeAmerican Party - conservativeAmerica's Independent Party - conservativeBoston Tea Party - conservativeCommunist Party of the United States of America - communistFlorida Whig Party - conservativeGreen Party - world wide party promoting social and economic justice, ecological wisdom, non-violence.Independence Party of America - populistModerate Party - democracy and peaceful securityModern Whig Party - conservativeNational Socialist Movement - socialistObjectivist Party - Fiscal: Laissez-faire, Social: IndividualismParty for Socialism and Liberation - Communism, Marxism-Leninism brandPeace and Freedom Party - left wing socialist and feministProgressive Labor Party - global armed communist revolutionProhibition Party - from 1869 they still promote fiscal and social conservatismReform Party of the United States of America - Ross Perot's populism and centrismSocialist Equality Party - anti-war, pro-choice, socialist economicsSocialist Party USA - democratic socialismSocialist Workers Party - socialism since 1938United States Marijuana Party - Anti-Prohibitionism. This party is a real grinner, however, should politics turn sour in America, just think of how many people would put in office a politician from this party just for a reality joke.Unity Party of America - centrism with a lot of members in many states, fiscal and social moderatesWorkers Party - left wing of anti-imperialism and anti-capitalismWorking Families Party - progressive, populism, social democracyA Job For Every American PolicyThe country is past due allowing patience with our politicians. The time is now for this White House to put the full court press on turning things around: the economy. You can't campaign on Hope, sell Hope and then refuse to deliver. Hope isn't about thinking things will get better so just sit tight and wait a few decades. Hope is about the impending call to action and the immediate work to procure tangible results. This White House's new slogan should be: A job for every American. FDR had his chicken in every pot during the crushing starvation of the Great Depression. Now, it's Obama's turn to create jobs. Americans want to earn their way in life. Provide the tools for them to do it. "A job for every American." Sounds good to me.Here's a few interesting news links:Gulf Residents Grow Desperate in BP Claim WaitMoney, Patience Wearing Thin for Tens of Thousands Whose Claims Oil Company Hasn't Decided to PayMary Landrieu: Drilling Moratorium Could Cost More Jobs than Oil SpillCongress turns to task of preventing another Gulf oil spillMembers of a House committee on Wednesday began shaping a bill that targets the problems laid bare by the Gulf oil spill, from lax regulation to inadequate accident-response plans.BP Oil Spill: Is it time for the Pentagon to take over? The BP oil spill relief effort lacks a clear command-and-control structure, senators said at a hearing Friday. Celebrity: Chelsea Clinton Wedding Day Details
*** President Clinton and Sec. Clinton's only child is getting married July 31st. Check out what she might be wearing for her wedding dress from the Vera Wang and Oscar de la Renta videos.
Vera Wang Calla Lily wedding dressFrom Denny: The big buzz is "So what is she wearing?" Chelsea Clinton has played it smart as the only child of a world famous political couple. It's amazing she has been so successful at remaining low profile to date.Celebrity watchers are all speculating as to who made her dress. It's been rumored to be Oscar de la Renta, but also a contender is designer Vera Wang. Whatever Chelsea wears she will look stunning in it as she is fit from studying dance for so many years. She definitely did not inherit her father's fast food chugging ways.Featured here are three of the most popular and very elegant wedding dresses from Vera Wang's collection.
Vera Wang Joan wedding dress
Vera Wang Dorothy wedding dressCheck out the leaked wedding day details so far. Chelsea will be married somewhere within two to three hour drive time of New York City. Guests will not be told where to go until the last few days before the wedding. The ceremony will be "tented" as the caterers say, safe from prying camera eyes in a helicopter overhead if the media does manage to figure out the site of the wedding. Let's hope they don't spoil it for the couple and leave them alone on their special day. No word yet as to whether they will be married by a Christian minister or a Jewish rabbi - or both in a joint ceremony. The guest list is a modest amount, numbered to be 400. Can you imagine being a world famous couple, in politics for decades, and your only child will only allow you to invite up to 400 people? Can you imagine just how many people the Clintons know well? Try trimming down that guest list! The caveat that Chelsea herself decided is that she must personally know each and every guest. She only wants people at her wedding that have a relationship with her, not just her famous parents. There are literally thousands of Clinton friends and many have never spoken to Chelsea, so that should narrow down the list.Any way you look at it, Sec. Clinton is excited and happy to be making wedding plans for her daughter. Hillary has cleared her busy diplomatic schedule just to give her enough breathing time to prepare for and enjoy her daughter's wedding day. Hillary is a hard-charging and tireless worker. I'd say she's earned her well deserved special time with family this month.
