More Lies From BP: Claims Fund on Empty

*** More about the latest insults from BP on the oil spill claims fund mess. From Denny: OK, BP, "Show me the money!" I knew these conniving rat bastards were up to no good. They claim to have struck a deal with President Obama to fund the claims fund at $5 billion per year to the total of at least $20 billion. BP went around spending millions on ad campaigns yet refused to fund the claims fund. BP claims they are dedicated to cleaning up the Gulf. It is plainly obvious now BP is NOT committed to paying what they agreed they owed the Gulf residents.Claims Fund Manager, Ken Feinberg, says he won't release any checks because he knows they will bounce. He keeps pleading like some sorry lost sheep, whining to the press about how naughty BP has been not putting money into the account. You have got to be kidding me. He looks ridiculous. Where is his backbone and outrage? He's a lawyer; he should be doing something more appropriate like at least making a citizen's arrest of the BP execs. If he won't, I sure will - and I'm confident I can find a few million other folks who will join me to arrest them. What is President Obama going to do about this shameful act from the oil industry?Did BP really think Louisianians and the rest of the Gulf coast would let them off the hook when they claimed they have already paid out $5 billion in costs for clean up? They really think they can walk away that easily? Not so fast, scumbags. The President has in his power to yank those lucrative contracts BP has with our military. Yes, BP, a foreign oil company, has the largest contract with our military - not an American company. What's wrong with this picture?Back in late May, near Memorial Day, the White House was livid about the one month old oil spill and wanted to start pulling some of those juicy contracts BP has with our government. Obama should have followed and trusted his instincts. Instead, BP lawyers sweet talked them out of it, claiming they would make everything right again. Yeah, right, and look where we are again after all these months: we have a federal moratorium on the Gulf that has strangled our economy to a standstill and as a result people all over the Gulf coast are struggling to pay their bills and put food on the table for just necessities. Middle class Americans have their own government fighting them on this moratorium that is imploding their local economy. A foreign oil company trashed our environment and several industries all in one day and thought they could just walk away with ease. We got hit from two sides. Where is our federal government when we need them? Apparently, nowhere in sight. No financial relief either. And this creep BP CEO Tony Hayward is still CEO until October. So, that means more lies, more misdirection and more games - and really bad public relations campaign TV ads we have to endure like salt in the wounds as the final insult.

Yet BP is cautiously optimistic with Robert Dudley set to take over in October. Why Robert Dudley is tailor-made to lead BP past Gulf oil spillRobert Dudley, who will become BP's new chief executive on Oct. 1, has many of the qualities that BP needs as it tries to move beyond the Gulf oil spill crisis. Cartoons: American and World Politics, Tea Party - 24 July 2010

*** Check out the latest from the cartoonists this week as they weigh in on the Sherrod unjust firing after they were all set up by Fox News lies. And some Tea Party funnies as a bonus. Funny Einstein photoshopped as a rockerFrom Denny: Talk about a news story that got so many "legs" (as they say in the news biz) that it got up and ran out of the neighborhood: The Unjust Firing of Shirley Sherrod. What this story has is all the right elements. It has injustice at the core of the story at a time when injustice runs rampant in our business world, economy and culture. It has racial and gender aspects that just prove "the more things change the more they remain the same." Too many women have been waiting for their time of acceptance and to be treated like first class citizens in their own country instead of being treated like second class citizens. What makes it worse is when there are women like the Republicans who join "the masters" and condemn their fellow slaves mindset. Women who turn on other women without hesitation or thought of giving them the benefit of the doubt until the dust settles. American female culture never has been terribly nice and usually very nasty in how women throw each other under the bus. And American women wonder why most men don't take them seriously enough. The problem is that the women who are serious, thoughtful, energetic about doing more for society and hard-working, like Sherrod, get short shrift because they are lumped in with the common perception of "the destructive maligning woman."Nothing speaks to acceptance like being given the benefit of the doubt and be allowed the chance to explain the situation after you have been a loyal public servant for decades. Instead, Sherrod was immediately dismissed without a hearing, without a chance to explain the entire situation. More importantly, she was not given a proper investigation. Because she was female it was assumed she was a problem so her own Democrats dumped her unceremoniously. It had less to do with being black as her own President assumed she was guilty without so much as a thought as to maybe she should get a chance for an investigation first before firing. What also needs to be addressed by the federal government is a return to the media restraint that was in force before 1987. There was a time (yes, it really is true) when everything that marched out onto the airwaves as news had a high standard of proving the veracity of their facts. There was a time when facts were separated from opinion in news stories whether they were on the air or in print. There was a time when every news program was demanded to accurately present both sides of the story. The standard is to check your news story facts at least three times before running it in print or on the air. Fox News NEVER checks their facts as they are an entertainment network not a news network. After this incident the President needs to kick out Fox News from the White House briefings and to hell with the howling from other press people. They can threaten to not come back and the White House would just be the better off for it. The reality is that all the network news hounds will back down because they all want in on what is going on to deliver their news stories for profit. Obama was foolish to back down the first time when he first took office and wanted to kick out Fox from the White House press briefings. He should have trusted his instincts. There was a time that people like Rush Limbaugh would have been jailed and heavily fined for the caustic lying he does regularly on the airwaves. Mind you those are supposed to be public airwaves and yet the government continues to give them away for free to blowhard versions of broadcasters like Limbaugh to make millions off of every year. The taxpayer should get a percentage of his earnings every year for his use of the public airwaves. It's time Congress visit legislation about true privacy as well as the libel laws and update them. We would put an end to the majority of the political character assassination from the Republicans if the Democrats developed some steel spine and created privacy laws to include people running for office and restricted some things that the media can publish about private lives and family members. Maybe they ought to take a look at France's privacy laws.Political Charade CartoonsShirley Sherrod shafted by her own Democrats who refused to investigate before firing her. If they had they would have realized she was the victim of character assassination and totally fabricated lies. Govt Sex Perverts: Pentagon, Govt Spooks Watching Child Porn - News Headlines 23 July 2010

*** Americans should be outraged at this military cover-up allowing child porn perverts to keep high security clearances and continue working in the government, escaping prosecution.Pentagon and high security intelligence officials caught - but not jailed - for watching child pornFrom Denny: Here is a news story the politicians are hoping get lost in the weekend news shuffle and doesn't develop "legs" for the beginning of the next week to become a media nightmare. America woke up today to find out there are yet more entrenched Bush era federal employees watching child pornography on government computers during work time. Surely, this is grounds for immediate removal. Women's false accusers believed but male truthful accusers deniedShirley Sherrod didn't get anywhere near the consideration of doubt these perverts have. Shirley was innocent. These guys are caught red-handed by Department Of Defense (DOD) investigators and yet still remain in their jobs. What's wrong with this picture? By the way, where are the national women's groups on this issue and why are they so quiet?High security officials found to be perverts buying child porn on InternetRight now we have dozens of top Pentagon and spy agency officials, like the National Security Agency, the National Reconnaissance Office (builds and operates the nation’s spy satellites), and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (develops the military’s most secret weapons and technologies) — which deal with some of the most sensitive work in intelligence and defense - running around with high security clearances and yet also watching child porn. Thirteen of these perverts were found in California, working with the highest security clearances at our most intelligence sensitive installations on the West coast. What a bunch of sickos who are downloading child porn - on government computers no less."The fact that offenders include people with access to government secrets puts national security agencies at risk of blackmail, bribery, and threats, especially since these individuals typically have access to military installations," said a Defense Criminal Investigative Service 2009 report quoted in the Boston Globe, who first reported it.Investigations began as early as 2002, many cases dropped because of cover-upSince 2006, when this investigation began, only a few have been prosecuted, other cases completely dropped and a lot more have yet to be resolved after all these years. The Pentagon’s Inspector General’s Office has investigations begun as early as 2002 and still some cases remain open. Apparently, and oh, so conveniently, much evidence was "lost or misplaced." A 2007 case that nailed down a DOD defense contractor was closed "due to a lack of resources." We all know what that means: cover-up of "important" people and protecting Bush's political cronies. You have got to be kidding me. How lame is this? You have clear cut evidence and yet refuse to prosecute, or worse, remove this sickos from their jobs? Operation Flicker found 5,000 perverts buying this garbage It wasn't like the DOD went looking specifically for these American perverts. It was a sideline investigation that led back to them. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, back in 2006, started up Operation Flicker. They were looking for the names of people who bought child porn over the Internet from websites that operated overseas and found 5,000 people. They turned over to the Defense Department many cases found in their investigation that involved military personnel, intelligence officials and defense contractors. The fact is this Internet garbage was viewed from a number of Pentagon installations, not just one or two. And my taxpayer dollars pay to allow these creeps to do such things???Pentagon refuses to name names, still protecting themThe DOD still refuses to give out the names of those investigated, charged or prosecuted and will not verify as to how many were found in this investigation that are Americans working for the government in some capacity. At least two cases involved were contractors with top security clearances at the National Security Agency (NSA). One of these guys was indicted, yet got free to flee the country and is believed to be hiding in Libya. The other was found guilty and sentenced to five years in prison and then lifetime probation afterwards. He was with the NSA and was found in possession of "93 documents, 8,400 pictures, and 200 movies that were evidence of receipt of child pornography."One case: one creep never charged and still on government payrollAnother case was a guy who admitted he watched child porn at home on his computer at least twice a week. Yeah, right. Get this: While they took him out of the National Reconnaissance Office all they did was transfer him to an agency office in New Mexico where he stills works inside the government. He was never charged. You have got to be kidding me - again. So now the Pentagon is taking advice tips from the Vatican on how to play "the game of misdirection with perverts"?This guy is a security risk in any book. What are you thinking? He's weak and easily influenced to do practically anything. He needs to be put out of the government when it comes to national security. These are the kind of guys that the Chinese and Israelis go hunting to squirrel national secrets out of and return home with their prizes. All the countries who spy on America are always on the look out for weak people like this who can't control their sexual impulses or have perverted predilections.Tell Obama and Congress how you feel, America!Weigh in, America, and let Congress know how you feel about your tax dollars at work. If I were a betting person I'd wager that not one Republican steps up to condemn these Bush era abuses. If not, then they are silent co-conspirators which makes them just as morally sick as these perverts. Actually, it makes them all amoral. But then - you already knew that...Defense, Spy Officials Linked to Child Porn - the Boston Globe story*** THANKS for visiting, feel welcome to drop a comment or opinion, enjoy bookmarking this post on your favorite social site, a big shout out to awesome current subscribers – and if you are new to this blog, please subscribe in a reader or by email updates! *** Come by for a visit and check out my other blogs:The Social Poets The Social Poets Fav BloggersThe Soul CalendarVisual InsightsBeautiful Illustrated QuotationsPoems From A Spiritual HeartThe Healing WatersDennys Food and RecipesDennys Funny Quotes

Just How Angry Are Americans At Their Prez and Politicians?

*** Check out some of the reasons why Americans are so angry at their leaders right now. From Denny: Americans are furious. Furious over severe job loss or cutback in hours. Furious over not being able to meet financial obligations. Furious that their credit card companies continue to screw them over on excessive high interest rates and play games with changing the terms of the contracts. Congress let Big Business off the leash for the last 18 months just on the credit card issue alone. Big Business and Big Banks have gone hard-charging to destroy the middle class from every angle: their jobs, their homes, their savings.Big Banks took federal bailout monies yet continue to strangle small businesses and individuals for loans. The banks think the money is theirs and refuse to lend - the very purpose for which they were given the money. The stimulus and bailout monies were meant to stimulate the economy. The problem is that Congress did not take into account the excessive greed and craftiness of Big Business to cavalierly choose to screw over the American taxpayers. The Democrats continue to alienate their base. The Republicans continue character assassination like of recent USDA official, Shirley Sherrod, where the liars convinced this White House to fire her without investigation. If this were a man who was maligned there would not have been this fast a rush to judgment and throwing him under the bus. But, as usual, women get short shrift in America, as is evidenced by this poor handling from her maligning accusers. People in America are angry about one thing: injustice. There seems to be no where to turn for justice in this country. Big Business and the politicians work hand in hand to destroy what's left of the middle class. Soon we will become a nation of the working poor if nothing happens to stem the tide. The recent financial reform legislation looks good on the surface. The problem is that, again, Congress has given Big Business and Big Banks yet another 18 months to screw over the American people. What will happen, and how it will happen, remains to be seen. No one ever thought the credit card and health care legislation could turn out to be so negative either. Yet the crafty scumbags on Wall Street and the private sector went to work to see just how many people they could take advantage of and harm.Americans are tired. Tired of getting up in the morning wondering if they will have a job. Tired of wondering how many more cutbacks on their pay plans or hours they can absorb. Tired of wondering if their house will be worth much when they try to retire, if they get to retire. Tired of wondering if there is any real health care any longer available to them they can afford to purchase because this White House was too cowardly to put in the public option. The Democrats have failed us. They became corporate politicians, just trying to look good to the voters by passing weak legislation that gives the appearance of a good thing when the reality is far worse. The Democrats continue to join the greedy vicious Republicans in picking clean the pockets of the taxpayers. The Republicans howl about deficits yet continue throwing money at two wars which drain the treasury faster than any social programs could accomplish.Congress will not stop these wars in Iraq and Afghanistan even though we can no longer afford them. Congress does not care how many families have been torn apart or destroyed by these wars or the returning vets who suffer severe PTSD. Congress has done nothing to stem the tide of Army suicides which happen every day now. You just can't expect soldiers to return for five tours of duty. It's insanity and cruel and unjust.Americans are angry their government has forgotten them and thrown them under the bus in favor of Big Business and Big Banks. Congress, and this President, have repeatedly refused to put these societal offenders on a leash and truly discipline them. Instead, it's "Oh, bad doggie..." with a pat on the head and a wink they will be let off the leash for a time to frolic at our expense. The middle class is in a world of hurt. The media, the majority of whom are mostly comfortable Republicans, and Congress, again too comfortable because they don't work in the private sector, just don't seem to have the fire in the belly to champion the needs of the middle class. It's all about saving their jobs, their incomes, their pride. Where have all the Ted Kennedy types gone? America used to be a place where there were leaders who championed those in need. Well, at least there's Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Louisiana Congressman Charlie Melancon and a few notable others - but they are not enough. We need an army of decent people in our Congress and, instead, we are filled to overflowing with crooks and insensitive jerks. It's time the White House quit catering to the Republicans and Big Business by the tactics of delay, delay and delay some more. Just how long does this White House - and it's political arm - think they can succeed with these tactics before everyone turns on them? Already, NetRoots is organizing to oppose their own Democrats in the November elections. They are saying "No!" to corporate politicians. And, judging by the polls the past few months, it looks like they will have a lot of agreeing company to help them accomplish their goals.CNN Poll: Majority angry at both political parties (24 June 2010) - Fifty-three percent of people questioned say when it comes to the way the Democrats and Republicans have been dealing with the nation's problems, they are angry at both parties, with nine percent saying they're mad only at the Republicans and seven percent angry only at the Democrats.According to the survey, 41 percent say the Republicans are more to blame for the country's current economic problems, with 28 percent saying the fault lies with the Democrats and just over one in four saying both parties are responsible.Among Independent voters, 21 percent blame the Democrats, 35 percent say the GOP is responsible and 36 percent blame both parties for the economic mess.Obama could benefit from GOP takeoverObama vacation brings rest, relaxation and rebukePanetta: Afghan war has 'serious problems,' but progress being made*** THANKS for visiting, feel welcome to drop a comment or opinion, enjoy bookmarking this post on your favorite social site, a big shout out to awesome current subscribers – and if you are new to this blog, please subscribe in a reader or by email updates!

Unemployed About To Get Relief, Brit PM Visit, Fox Lies About Govt Official - News Headlines 20 July 2010

*** Check out Brit's PM remarks offering odious BP cover and meet the new Senate replacement for West Virginia's Byrd whose first vote broke the Republican filibuster. From Denny: With the new temporary Senate replacement from West Virginia voting, Carte Goodwin, finally the Democrats broke the Republican filibuster on the unemployment benefits extension. Yet the story is still not finished. More voting on the way, though now the Democrats have their 60 votes to prevent another filibuster. Still, these poor folks who are growing increasingly desperate wait another few weeks even if the vote is decided this week. Why? It will take that long for the states to parcel out the checks - which could take anywhere from two to four weeks to do. The unemployment benefits have already been held up for two months now; another month is unconscionable. Unemployment Filibuster BrokenBritain's New Prime Minister Visits AmericaBritain's new Prime Minister, David Cameron, was visiting here to try and downplay the obnoxious bad behavior of British Petroleum in our country by acknowledging our collective national anger. He should have stopped at that sentence. Attempting to separate two explosive political stories was simply not wise. Sometimes, the less said the better. Trying to give BP cover was not his best move. Cameron comes across as a decent guy with the right intent so I'll give him a pass for now since he is so new on the job. He would do well to watch the tapes of his speech and then read the American bloggers to gauge our reactions. BP is a despicable corporate culture of which nothing has been done to change it. PM Cameron would do well to turn his attention to his own countrymen than try to assuage American anger.British PM says he understands the anger 'across America' for BPObama, British PM: Bomber Release Not BP's DoingObama, Britain's Cameron condemn Lockerbie bomber release, say it wasn't their doing or BP'sBP Oil Spill doings in the GulfEveryone here in the Gulf is waiting to find out more about those leaking wells that supposedly are not the Deepwater Horizon well. Who cares which well? After all, there are 29,000 aging temporarily capped wells in the Gulf right now. If it's leaking then it's leaking. The question is just how much it is leaking? If it's minimal then the ocean can deal with it but if not...Is experimental cap making disaster worse?Feds Tamp Down Fears Leaks Mean BP Well UnstableFeds tamp down fears leaky well cap, nearby seepage mean BP's blown out well is unstableHere's a real shocker for you: South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsay Graham actually voted FOR Elena Kagan and with the Democrats to advance her nomination to a vote. Guess he felt guilty - or didn't like the bad press the bloggers like me gave him for his nasty attitude and caustic anti-Semitic remarks toward her during the hearings - so he reversed and did right by her after all. Well, what can I say? When a person decides to quit being a jerk and do right you have to stand up and applaud them. There is nothing like watching someone who recognizes they did not give their best of heart to a situation and then chooses to live better. Graham joins panel's Dems to approve KaganBoy, the Democrats stepped right into this fool's errand. I would have expected better from former Gov. Vilsack. What was he thinking? He should have been wiser than this. You don't just call up one of your accused officials, order her to the side of the road as she was driving, and tell her she is fired. It's bad judgment.First of all, there should have been a cooling off period so you could verify the charges and check out the character of the folks making the charges. This is what is so bad about the older generation in government who are not technology savvy enough to realize this whole mess could have been Photoshop edited. Duh. While it's great the White House wants to be seen as intolerant of racism whichever way it goes and wants to be seen as on top of things, this was not a wise response. Rather it was a fearful angry knee jerk response. Had I been in his position, the first thing I would have done would be to place her on administrative leave for 7 to 10 days while I investigated the charges and the character of the accusers. Once I realized Fox News, aka Liars News, was involved it would have been case closed. You have only to watch the recent news stories of how Republican strategist and villain Karl Rove has been sneaking around, doing his usual character assassination, to know he was involved. This was handled badly and a woman's reputation impugned. She has good reason to be angry and demanding an apology. Yet again it looks like President Obama has to play referee and parent to lay down what should be obvious rules of how you go about dealing with a situation. She deserves a heartfelt apology and reinstatement.Video Taken Out of Context? BP Plays Games With Oil Spill, Democrats Face Huge Losses in November

*** The Democrats and the Republicans refuse to solve the problems in this country and are allowing it to fall into the economic abyss. BP screws over rightful claimants.BP playing games with people's livesFrom Denny: For all the efforts of the Obama White House, BP continues to play games with people's lives down here on the Gulf Coast. There's even an attorney in Texas who has been suing BP for years and says this typical bad attitude and stingy behavior is their SOP - standard operating procedure.BP's Dirty Little Legal StrategiesBP attorneys know that average people can't hold out for long. The average middle class person does not have the cash reserves of a multi-national corporation. It's a game of "wait and see who blinks first" because the average person cannot hold out beyond a few months. They cash in their kids' college funds, deplete their savings and retirement accounts, sell off stocks and bonds, you name it - all to pay the groceries and stay afloat another day. Eventually, the average middle class person runs out of things to sell or accounts to raid and they are cooked, forced into bankruptcy court. Going into bankruptcy court is exactly the tactic BP is playing because, again, it will delay by months, maybe years, any reckoning for BP. BP gets to walk away free as a bird while leaving a wide swath of devastation in their wake.BP is counting on the average people hurt by this environmental disaster, mostly very small businesses, to fold and take a small settlement for all their financial ruin and emotional anguish. There are thousands of people who have rightful claims who are being delayed for months or denied for capricious reasons. No matter how many times the national media have reported this outrageous behavior from BP the practices have not stopped. The President must step in to discipline BPIt's time for the President to step in and resolve this garbage from BP. For the federal government to go around suing Arizona over what is an impractical law to enforce anyway and then suing Louisiana because they are trying to keep their economy afloat is not what I expect from my federal government. Both states are strapped for funds, only making the situations far worse for the populace. The federal government should be in the business of suing Big Business for all the havoc they have wreaked upon this economy by sending jobs overseas that started this tumbling into unpaid debts. Big Banks have yet to be brought to heel like the behemoth junkyard dogs they are, taking advantage of biting the public just "because they can," knowing no one will put a stop to their shady bullying practices. From the very beginning of this oil spill environmental disaster, BP started sledgehammering the surviving oil workers - from the 22 April explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig - by forcing them to sign waivers that BP was not at fault. That happened within hours of being rescued at sea and the survivors were taken to yet another offshore oil rig to be interrogated and pressured into signing away their rights to sue BP for injuries. Funny thing, though, those oil rigs are within our national waters as well as within Louisiana jurisdiction. It's a long standing tradition in Louisiana, because of the old French Napoleonic Code, that you can never sign away your rights, even under duress. The courts protect the rights of the average citizen. At the rate we are going it actually may be the Louisiana courts who will save the day instead of who should be the standard bearers for the American people: our federal government and the President. As it stands, the now increasingly desperate middle class does not have a champion in this White House and we have not had a champion to fight for us for ten years now. The American people cannot hold out any longer. Something must be done.November Elections could prove tragic for allOf course, the American people are primed to take matters into their own hands come election time this November. The House is said to have about a possible 67 seat loss if the voting attitude remains ugly. The Senate is looking at losing anywhere from three to ten seats for the Democrats. This Democratic Congress frittered away their majority by passing useless and often damaging legislation, still not taking care of the middle class. All they did was answer to their Big Business handlers.Speaker Pelosi, an American political heroine under appreciatedThe notable exception was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who has done all the heavy lifting by delivering almost 300 passed bills. What did Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid accomplish? He passed only one bill - gift-wrapped by Pelosi. All of those bills should have been easy slam dunks. Reid needs to be replaced. Clearly, he is no former Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle who cleverly outmaneuvered the Republicans at every turn to make the most for the Democrats. Speaking of Daschle, this White House needs to hire him and use his organizational skills to head up this economic initiative I've suggested in my last posts. Either that or get him to teach the next Senate leader how to handle the heat and get things passed in a timely manner and not watered down into oblivion.Democrats gang up on Press Secretary Gibbs for speaking the truthMany Democratic leaders are angry at Press Secretary Gibbs for speaking the obvious. First of all, he was not hired to be a diplomat or a politician. He's a journalist and a man of integrity. Lay off his one yard line. He isn't the problem; you are. The public is angry at all the politicians for handling huge problems so ineptly and not in a timely manner. Don't take it out on Gibbs for speaking to the truth of your political consequences where you have fallen down on the job. Do the job we hired you to do. We hired all of you and we can fire you. It's time the American public get some respect around here. You are in office to serve us - not the other way around. Get that thought straight in your heads and we will finally be on the same page to pull together to get problems solved.Get Axelrod out of the daily White House NOWThe whole reason this White House trotted out Gibbs for the talk shows is because they did some polling to discover that Axelrod polls lousy. People do trust Gibbs as he polls well with the public. People don't trust Axelrod and it's no wonder as his own body language betrays him. The man is always sneering contempt at others. Watch him in interview with Jon Stewart, a case in point of many. Stewart kept backing up with aversion from Axelrod who was trying to blow some charm past him. Stewart clearly did not trust or like Axelrod.Put Axelrod out in the political field for electionsIf this White House actually wants to continue to hold onto Axelrod then get him out of the daily White House, off the talk shows, and back into the political field getting candidates elected. That's what he is good enough at doing and that is all he should be doing. He has failed miserably at policy advice, especially the domestic agenda. His calls have hit it wrong every time for 18 months now. Don't allow Axelrod's bad prognosticating to take down this first African-American presidency just because you don't have the stomach to part ways with an old friend. Who needs friends that stab you in the back at every turn? Axelrod is not just tone deaf he is heart deaf and truly cannot identify or understand those who are suffering in this country. Move him and his aides down the road where they can be useful. How the American public is getting ready to vote: no more corporate politiciansWhat both the Democrats and the Republicans are not paying enough attention to is that the public is so disillusioned with the political process they will not vote at all. The flip side of that scenario is they just may decide to vote and will start voting in all the obscure political candidates. If you think you have a mess now arguing over political philosophies and trying to pass legislation, welcome to the chaotic world of twenty different political parties sitting at the table instead of two. The public may just hit on the idea to only vote in non-corporate politicians, if they have to reach down to the third tier candidates to get any real representation. That's going to put in office some real loony tunes like the Tea Party, the Modern Whig Party or communists. Then there are others like the Libertarians who basically don't believe in government and would dismantle all the safety regulations in place. The Green Party is worldwide and promotes some great ideas but refuses to protect the citizens with any force. Here's just a short list of possibilities that could either improve or screw up our politics beyond repair:America First Party - conservativeAmerican Party - conservativeAmerica's Independent Party - conservativeBoston Tea Party - conservativeCommunist Party of the United States of America - communistFlorida Whig Party - conservativeGreen Party - world wide party promoting social and economic justice, ecological wisdom, non-violence.Independence Party of America - populistModerate Party - democracy and peaceful securityModern Whig Party - conservativeNational Socialist Movement - socialistObjectivist Party - Fiscal: Laissez-faire, Social: IndividualismParty for Socialism and Liberation - Communism, Marxism-Leninism brandPeace and Freedom Party - left wing socialist and feministProgressive Labor Party - global armed communist revolutionProhibition Party - from 1869 they still promote fiscal and social conservatismReform Party of the United States of America - Ross Perot's populism and centrismSocialist Equality Party - anti-war, pro-choice, socialist economicsSocialist Party USA - democratic socialismSocialist Workers Party - socialism since 1938United States Marijuana Party - Anti-Prohibitionism. This party is a real grinner, however, should politics turn sour in America, just think of how many people would put in office a politician from this party just for a reality joke.Unity Party of America - centrism with a lot of members in many states, fiscal and social moderatesWorkers Party - left wing of anti-imperialism and anti-capitalismWorking Families Party - progressive, populism, social democracyA Job For Every American PolicyThe country is past due allowing patience with our politicians. The time is now for this White House to put the full court press on turning things around: the economy. You can't campaign on Hope, sell Hope and then refuse to deliver. Hope isn't about thinking things will get better so just sit tight and wait a few decades. Hope is about the impending call to action and the immediate work to procure tangible results. This White House's new slogan should be: A job for every American. FDR had his chicken in every pot during the crushing starvation of the Great Depression. Now, it's Obama's turn to create jobs. Americans want to earn their way in life. Provide the tools for them to do it. "A job for every American." Sounds good to me.Here's a few interesting news links:Gulf Residents Grow Desperate in BP Claim WaitMoney, Patience Wearing Thin for Tens of Thousands Whose Claims Oil Company Hasn't Decided to PayMary Landrieu: Drilling Moratorium Could Cost More Jobs than Oil SpillCongress turns to task of preventing another Gulf oil spillMembers of a House committee on Wednesday began shaping a bill that targets the problems laid bare by the Gulf oil spill, from lax regulation to inadequate accident-response plans.BP Oil Spill: Is it time for the Pentagon to take over? The BP oil spill relief effort lacks a clear command-and-control structure, senators said at a hearing Friday. Why Obama Is Failing Miserably At Running America

*** America is ready to explode in despair and the economy take a nosedive if this White House does not change its game plan and jump into emergency mode.

The Summer of America's Discontent

From Denny: This summer in America will truly be remembered as The Summer Of Discontent. The American public - on both sides of the aisle - are just not happy with their government.

The Republicans are unhappy because they are not in charge. The Republicans are unhappy out in Arizona because the federal government has only done a pittance to guarantee their border safety. Right now, there are kidnappings and murders of regular citizens by Mexican drug dealers overrunning our borders.

Immigration and Violent Mexican Drug Cartels

The Homeland Security makes idiot comments like, "The border with Mexico is porous and we will never be able to plug all the holes." That isn't what people want to hear and it certainly isn't what a real leader does. You don't just throw up your hands and say, "Sorry, no can do!" Or worse, sit on your hands and do nothing or virtually nothing.

To solve the problem you throw federal funds out to the border states to hire hordes of police and then you send down hordes of federal border police agents to actually enforce border security. There is no excuse for lame excuses from our government. Americans should have a reasonable expectation of safety in their own backyards.

Then, to add insult to injury President Obama decides to sue Arizona over their idiot attempt at immigration law. If this White House had an ounce of sense they would have sat back and allowed the law to go into effect so that Arizona would have figured out on their own how difficult it would be to enforce. Obama isn't winning any votes among Hispanics whatsoever and killing votes among Independents and some Democrats.

He never was going to be successful at sweet talking any Republican voters. Republicans don't respond to sweet talk in the first place. They respond only to force and dominance. It's what makes them tick; it's what makes them feel safe and secure in this world. Bizarre but true. Don't look at me, folks, I'm just writing the honest truth of how some segments of American society roll.

The BP Gulf Oil Spill and Moratorium

Here's another non-winner with the populace. People in Louisiana and on the Gulf Coast are absolutely furious with BP and the federal government and the Coast Guard. It's like a bad TV comedy episode where no one can seem to get organized or in timing. Sort of like watching two people try to do the Tango dance and end up entangled and falling down on the floor, slipping while they try to get up. Yeah, it's that bad here on the Gulf Coast.

To add insult to injury Obama continues this idiot moratorium. During this time he has had since 22 April to get going on the safety inspections, his government is still in the planning phase of just how to go about hiring safety inspectors. They are worrying about how to retain said future safety inspectors once they train them in the complexities necessary. What have you got sitting around these tables? A bunch of PhD's with no tangible hands-on practical work experience? This is ludicrous.

You should have been pulling from all angles of the oil and gas industry and personnel from your own federal government, assessing your resources and putting them into the field. Worry about job retention later unless you get them to sign a legal document declaring they will work for you for the next ten years. Is there anything about common sense you do not understand?

The Oil Moratorium

What's worse about this oil drilling moratorium is that while the feds try to figure it out, they have thrown 300,000 people out of work in an instant. The monies from BP are a sad joke in slow motion as desperate people get more desperate. Families are breaking up, divorces, people are committing suicide all over this environmental disaster. If the feds are looking for someone to bring lawsuits against bring them against BP not other American citizens. When the economy is so miserable, shaky and uncertain the last thing a real leader does is go around suing their own citizens.

Obama is suing Arizona over immigration law. Obama is suing Louisiana over stopping this moratorium that has frozen our economy into a dead stop to the point it is affecting the rest of the state and neighboring states, the entire Gulf Coast region. It's unrealistic to expect BP to pay for it all. You have to turn the economy loose to operate. Your job, should you decide to accept it, is for the feds to slam those oil fields and overrun them with safety inspectors done yesterday.

America's Economy Fragile

Right now America's economy is teetering. It's teetering for a variety of reasons, most notably debt. Most of this debt did not come about from people being irresponsible and overspending. It came from the now over age 50 Baby Boomer generation thrown out of work by the millions by Big Business that sent jobs overseas by the millions.

The Baby Boomers have always affected every decade in America and are doing so now. Debts were run up onto credit cards after people depleted their savings and retirement plans. Credit cards are a last ditch effort to stay afloat for a small business or the out of work corporate executive whose company fired him because they didn't want to pay the bigger salary or give health benefits to an aging worker. "Can you hear me now?"

So, what does the Obama economic commission come out and say? Yeah, you guessed it. Let's tax the hell out of the middle class by refusing to keep taxes low. Those Bush tax cuts expire soon. Hold onto your hats, folks, come 1 January 2011 your federal taxes will skyrocket and capital gains taxes will jump to a whopping 20 percent. We have a Congress that is more concerned about the possible, OK, it's impending, mid-term election losses than in keeping our taxes in line with our incomes in this severely depressed economy.

Democrats not energized

Poll after poll expresses discontent and anger toward this President. People are angry that nothing positive has reached down into their everyday lives. No one gives a rat's ass about whether the Democrats will lose the House or not. Why? Because the Democrats have never delivered on any of their promises when they took office. We are still footing the hugely expensive bill for not just one, but two wars. We, the taxpayers, are footing the bill for idiot nation building as well. When will politicians finally fall out of love with nation building and quit bleeding us dry for money we no longer have to give?

This White House thinks they can continue to deliver pablum in the form of hollow speeches and the people will be content. How can you be so naive? No one is content when their lives are falling apart from job loss, being out of work for up to two years. The only way for everything to calm down is to get people back to work.

How this White House needs to change: fundamentally

Frankly, at this point, I don't hold out much hope for this Presidency to survive. I sometimes wonder if I'm the last person left standing who actually wants the Obama Presidency to do well but they sure aren't giving me anything to promote. They are too slow to react, too slow to accept what is in front of their faces and too little too late to deliver anything of substance.

Fundamentally, a government is supposed to govern. How do you govern? First, you assess what the people need not what Big Business demands. Corporate Republicans or corporate Democrats look the same to the middle class who are suffering greatly. The middle class has suffered for the past ten years. When the middle class suffers, then the poor suffer even more than they already do because it is the middle class that gives to food banks and charities, not the wealthy.

When I looked at the President's schedule today (link below) it really hit home as to why he is ineffective. He spends all his time talking to his political people about possible legislation and then an afternoon of fluff feel good small stuff. Legislation and idealistic talks are not what America needs right now. What we need is hands-on practical common sense projects aimed at putting people back to work.

Quit running the White House like a country club. What you should be doing, Mr. President, is turning the Oval Office into a War Room, an economic emergency war room. You need to establish emergency teams all over the country. Turn your office into a nerve center to field calls from all over the country. You need economic teams fanning out across America to gather information, assess priorities, establish what can be done quickly to hire and then the authority to turn it loose. Instead of political meetings in the morning you should be meeting with your emergency teams twice a day until it comes together and starts functioning as one team.

You need to assess parts of the budget where you can immediately strip monies - plenty of pork barrel projects to salvage - to fund public work projects to put people back to work. This economy - and its perception - is a war. You can't keep running from confrontation. That's just no longer an option. It's time to stand up and step up for your American people.

The federal government should be in the business of creating new businesses. The federal government should be in the business of creating new energy sources like solar farms all across America. There are plenty of bridges in dire need of repair and other large projects to supply jobs. Start with the temporary and we can worry about the permanent later as we transition. Doing little or nothing is worse. You just can't stand by and do so little.

Funny Video: Colbert Rips Glenn Beck For His "Wildly Important" Work

*** Colbert lampoons Glenn Beck, awarding him great praise for his great work in progress.

Colbert Rips Glenn Beck For His "Wildly Important" Work

From Denny: Colbert is in love. He's in love with Glenn Beck. Well, sort of. Colbert loves to mock Glenn Beck at the drop of his irreverent hat.

This funny video has been sitting in draft status for just such a week when we all needed a good laugh in the miserable summer heat. Beck tried to justify his rally on the exact same date and location as the famous Martin Luther King "I Have A Dream" speech. Colbert did not give him a pass on that absurdity.

Joked Colbert: "Finally, someone is bringing "Martin Luther King's movement back to its conservative white roots."

Beck claimed it was "divine providence" that his event landed on the same day. Makes you want to throw up all over his shoes, now doesn't it? Colbert said, "Personally, I take everything Glenn says on faith...because there's never any evidence to back up his claims."

Beck is so mentally bizarre when he talks. It's like watching a three year old make up stuff because he finally realizes an adult is actually listening. The tales get wilder and wilder. Beck claimed he was approached by "an unnamed man from the Vatican" who praised Beck for his contributions to society. Of course, Colbert did some sleuthing and tracked down this man who turned out to be Father Sarducci, that chain-smoking priest also known as comedian Don Novello.

Celebrity: Chelsea Clinton Wedding Day Details

*** President Clinton and Sec. Clinton's only child is getting married July 31st. Check out what she might be wearing for her wedding dress from the Vera Wang and Oscar de la Renta videos.Vera Wang Calla Lily wedding dressFrom Denny: The big buzz is "So what is she wearing?" Chelsea Clinton has played it smart as the only child of a world famous political couple. It's amazing she has been so successful at remaining low profile to date.Celebrity watchers are all speculating as to who made her dress. It's been rumored to be Oscar de la Renta, but also a contender is designer Vera Wang. Whatever Chelsea wears she will look stunning in it as she is fit from studying dance for so many years. She definitely did not inherit her father's fast food chugging ways.Featured here are three of the most popular and very elegant wedding dresses from Vera Wang's collection.Vera Wang Joan wedding dressVera Wang Dorothy wedding dressCheck out the leaked wedding day details so far. Chelsea will be married somewhere within two to three hour drive time of New York City. Guests will not be told where to go until the last few days before the wedding. The ceremony will be "tented" as the caterers say, safe from prying camera eyes in a helicopter overhead if the media does manage to figure out the site of the wedding. Let's hope they don't spoil it for the couple and leave them alone on their special day. No word yet as to whether they will be married by a Christian minister or a Jewish rabbi - or both in a joint ceremony. The guest list is a modest amount, numbered to be 400. Can you imagine being a world famous couple, in politics for decades, and your only child will only allow you to invite up to 400 people? Can you imagine just how many people the Clintons know well? Try trimming down that guest list! The caveat that Chelsea herself decided is that she must personally know each and every guest. She only wants people at her wedding that have a relationship with her, not just her famous parents. There are literally thousands of Clinton friends and many have never spoken to Chelsea, so that should narrow down the list.Any way you look at it, Sec. Clinton is excited and happy to be making wedding plans for her daughter. Hillary has cleared her busy diplomatic schedule just to give her enough breathing time to prepare for and enjoy her daughter's wedding day. Hillary is a hard-charging and tireless worker. I'd say she's earned her well deserved special time with family this month.

Scummy Senators Aide Offers Pay For Access, Those Russian Spies, Oldest Living Person - News Headlines 9 July 2010

*** Check out the fun of the intelligence world, the crazy crimes of the political world and there is another oldest living person in the world. From Denny: We have another claim of the oldest living person in the world and this time she is in Georgia, Russia's neighboring country to the west. She has the local Georgian officials convinced of her longevity. She is Antisa Khvichava and says she is 130 years old. Antisa was born on 8 July 1880 in a remote mountain village. She says she slowed down and finally retired at age 85 from work as a tea and corn picker in the fields. Uh, 45 years ago, folks! She sounds like my Aunt Noelle who decided to finally quit smoking for the sake of her health - at age 85. She lived to age 93 so I guess it worked. :)Antisa says, "I've always been healthy, and I've worked all my life - at home and at the farm." She speaks through an interpreter since she only learned to speak the local language of Mingrelian, not Georgian since she never received formal schooling. She sports a brightly colored dress and headscarf. She enjoys shiny red lipstick though now her lips are weathered from time. She is quite healthy though she uses a cane now.Antisa tells officials she lost her birth certificate long ago, about 100 years ago to be exact, but that she possesses other documents to prove her claim of age.She must have been one of those late bloomers because when she was 60 years old she gave birth to her son, Mikhail, who is now 70 years old. Antisa is proud to say she has 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.Currently, before this claim was found, The Gerontology Research Group has recognized Eugeni Blanchard of Saint Barthelemy, France, age 114, as the oldest living person in the world. The organization is currently examining Antisa's claim.Antisa Khvichava, reportedly 130-year-old Georgian woman, looks at her birthday cake on July 8, 2010. (AP Photo/George Abdaladze)World's Oldest Person, Antisa Khvichava, Hits 130: Georgian OfficialsHere's a story of the incredibly stupid and excessively greedy. Colorado's Democratic Senator Michael Bennet had an intern working for him, Jeffrey Garofano, who actually thought he could sell access to the Senator for $2,400. Garofano isn't even out of college yet and he's gotten off on the wrong path in life already. Get this: it was his first week on the job! The way it went down is that apparently he received an email from an acquaintance who requested to discuss fuel standards with the Senator or one of his aides. Garofano proceeds to reply in an email, according to the Wall Street Journal, "With a donation of $2,400 or more," activists pushing a fuel-standards bill "can schedule a one-on-one hour long meeting with the Senator."Then he went on to add, "Want a better chance to lobby Michael?" The intern offered this advice: "Host an event for $5,000 or more."Turns out this extortion is not illegal as long as it remains only a suggestion. If the Senator had offered legislative action in exchange for a monetary donation then it would be illegal. Still Senator Bennet was not amused and fired the intern immediately for misrepresenting him.Senator's Intern Fired Over Pay-For-Access OfferEver been to Vienna, Austria? I have and it really does hold the border mindset - and is the dividing line - of where the East meets the West. I enjoyed myself wandering the streets and observing Arab arms dealers in cafes making deals. (Hint: big muscular bodyguards carrying big guns under their blazers.) My husband wanted to blunder into one of those places and I had to hustle him down the road. There are some situations "where even angels fear to tread." I'd seen enough.I lunch-tripped into a suspicious looking Chinese restaurant front that was terribly shabby yet within listening distance of the American embassy. They tried to tell me they weren't serving but I insisted they serve lunch any way. Hey, they had a menu. I figured it they were going to run a scam operation I'd make them work for it and be the dumb annoying tourist. Oh, how the Communist Chinese were thrilled with me that day but at least I satisfied my curiosity of what was in my environment. What's even more fun is to hang out in some of the largest hotels and watch all the wheeling and dealing that goes on between local politicians and various agents of various governments in the hotel lobbies. What a shifty bunch sitting in big chairs, resting their drinks on polished marble tables while they chain smoke their tension away. Ah, the local color of the intelligence world at harried work. So, when news broke of the big spy swap for 10 low level bumbling Russian spies, well, I yawned. Where's all the excitement? Bully for CIA Director Panetta and President Obama for saving the taxpayers a boat load of cash. We didn't have to bring them to trial or house them in some prison for decades. Why not send them back to Russia? That surely is sentence enough. That said, continue to look for Russian spies near you, in your neighborhood. The Russians, that Eastern European suspiciousness, just can't let it go. It really is in their DNA, the love of fearing others who are not them. Maybe it's just as well their recent spies did not stay longer. They might have joined the GOP and the Teabaggers! Can you imagine the editorial cartoons on that one? :)CIA's Panetta, Russian Spy Chief Negotiated Swap - "CIA director Leon Panetta and Russia's spy chief, Mikhail Fradkov, worked out the largest spy swap since the Cold War in just a few days, a U.S. official says."*** THANKS for visiting, feel welcome to drop a comment or opinion, enjoy bookmarking this post on your favorite social site, a big shout out to awesome current subscribers – and if you are new to this blog, please subscribe in a reader or by email updates!
