Check out the national mind and opinions of our economy through the eyes of cartoonists.
From Denny: Our politicians continue to campaign for their jobs while they refuse to guard ours going out of the country still at a rapid rate. This month GM announced they were hiring an additional 5,000 new workers. Yeah? Not in America. And we taxpayers still own controlling interest in this annoying car manufacturer. They have the nerve to stiff the American worker with the bill and no job to help pay for it.

American Political Season - 23 Oct 2010
This sure is a mean - and more competitive than usual - political season.
From Denny: This is a midterm election season and it is in full swing like a Presidential election. This year is when the controlling political party gets to redistrict the nation to give one party or another more seats and deprive their competition of enough to drive them into minority status. Meanwhile, it's the voters who suffer from these greedy selfish practices. The Republicans are the most notorious in breaking up Democratic strongholds they could never gain control of to get a seat in the House or the Senate unless they did gerrymander the voting district.
This year, because of the Supreme Court ruling, there are now anonymous donors throwing $20 million checks at the Republicans - and some Democrats - to buy back Congress. It's shameful how the Republicans have sold out this county. No other country in the world allows foreign companies or countries to lobby their political members - let allow buy them for hire.

Popular President Clinton On The Economy, Mid-Term Election, Wedding
America's most popular ex-President talks about how to get the economy jumpstarted and the serious erosion of the middle class if the election is turned over to the Republicans.
From Denny: Former President Bill Clinton keeps rising in popularity as President Obama descends that ladder. America is restless. Since Obama was elected the middle class has grown increasingly disappointed we are left out in the cold - again - by the Democratic Party that used to support the middle class against Big Business eroding our wealth, our stability, our hopes for the future. The people ARE the economy and when the people have lost confidence the economy slides down into despair.

King Abdullah II Talks Huge Middle East Gamble for Sept 30
King Abdullah II talks strategy for successful Middle East Peace with Jon Stewart.
From Denny: Typically, Jon Stewart is known for his biting political humor, mocking hypocrisy in government. Today Stewart turned to the serious and interviewed King Abdullah II of Jordan, a Muslim political moderate, on the Middle East peace situation.
It took an American Jewish comedian to do an in-depth interview on an internationally explosive situation that our American news shows just don't do. All we receive are sound bites and skimmed headlines along with outrageous rhetoric from the opposition political terrorists - all because it makes for great ratings. This interview is refreshing for those of us with intelligence who want to hear it directly from the source's mouth, instead of interpreted for us by agenda driven media.
September 30th is an important mark date as that is when the moratorium ends and Israel can possibly set off war in the Middle East - if it chooses to be contentious and controversial - and resume building again in the Palestinian settlements. What King Abdullah II is advocating is to solve this issue now between Israel and Palestine. He says the alternative is that war will break out by November or December once the extremists whip up their rhetoric. Then the whole place will go up in flames.
He also made a good point that America is already involved and invested heavily in the region, causing the moderate voices like his to be drowned out by the terrorist extremists. Yet another reason to end our two-front wars in Iraq and Afghanistan if only to prevent Muslim moderates from becoming a dying breed..
What the king said that was most telling is how this two-nation squabble can erupt into an international religious war. His strategy is to resolve the issue now. Why? Well, for one thing, the stakes are high in this gamble for Peace because if Israel and Palestine choose the path to Peace then 57 Muslim nations are willing to normalize relations with Israel.
What that will accomplish is to break up the power of the international terrorist organizations, reducing them just to localized domestic levels. That will also kick out Iran from ascending to broker power in the region. All the surrounding Muslim nations are terrified of radicalized Iran and are eager to make peace with Israel, if for no other reason than to short circuit Iran's plans for power.
So, tell me, why aren't the White House and mainstream media selling this Peace process so clearly as Jon Stewart and Kind Abdullah II of Jordan?
Take a look and watch how King Abdullah II lays out his strategy. This leader is one class act. The second video clip is from an extended interview that is web only.

Who Will Be Prez Obamas Next Chief of Staff?
Check out the leading contenders who can make or break the Democratic agenda.
From Denny: The usual rumors are swirling in the political sphere. And the usual political skunks like Axelrod and Plouffe are lying their asses off to convince their fellow Democrats how committed they are to this President. Now who believes that drivel? It's because of these guys, Axelrod and Plouffe, are the very political advisers who have ignored proper governing of this country, creating the past two years of mess in this country. They kept "handling" the public instead of going to work on the many tough issues like unemployment. No one really cares when you pass a weak health care bill that does not help the middle class. No one cares when you continue to dance to the tune of Big Business when it hurts the middle class. No one cares when you pass weak credit card legislation that does nothing to protect consumers in a meaningful way. Axelrod and Plouffe are the very reasons this presidency is so ineffective. And now they want the job of Chief of Staff? Deliver us from them, Mr. President! These two have been pushing Rahm out the door since day one, trying to get his job - and now you plan to hand it to them? Names on the short list of candidates being tossed around:Vice President Biden's chief of staff Ron Klain White House senior advisor Valerie Jarrett Deputy National Security Advisor Tom Donilon White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina Obama's 2008 campaign manager, David PlouffeFormer Senator Majority (and Minority) Leader Tom DaschleAmerica is in dire straits economically, Mr. President. This is simply not the time for the personal ambitions of dressing up their resumes of which your Chicago group is so fond. This is the time for someone with a personal agenda that is not at odds with the needs of the American middle class and small businesses. What you need is a former or sitting Senator. You need someone with long lengthy friendships in the Senate that knows the quirks and what makes them tick. This is what hurt President Jimmy Carter and why he failed in his presidency. He simply did not possess the inner workings of the Washington network.None of your candidates has that network of relationships in the Senate. Rahm had them in the House and that's why he was so successful getting so many bills passed with Speaker Pelosi. But Senator Harry Reid fell down on the job and Rahm couldn't help him with the Senate to get your agenda going. The only person qualified on your list who knows how to work in the trenches is former Senator Tom Daschle. He has the long standing relationships, the intricate knowledge of Senate rules like the late Senator Byrd, and he has the finesse for which you have longed in dealing with the Republicans. Hire anyone else and you are doomed to fail. Offer Dashchle whatever it takes to get him on board yesterday. Don't wait yet another two months before making a decision. Rahm's mind is already running for Chicago mayor and now his head in not in the game. This country needs a faster response time federal government. It's easy to get caught up in The Beltway mindset where the whole area works for the government or benefits from reporting on the government. Everyone there is quite comfortable getting their regular paychecks and affordable health care. There isn't the desperation about the economy in your immediate atmosphere. The decisions you make now will take as long as another two years to play out effectively. A big ship is hard to turn in the water and harder still to move quickly. Don't drag your feet on this decision nor agonize about hurting your friends. Put the American people first as they are the ones who are really hurting.

Put the American people first as they are the ones who are really hurting.Saturday, September 11, 2010
Middle East Peace, Koran Burning, Iraq War Cartoons - 11 Sept 2010
The threatened burning of 200 Korans took center stage this week over the Middle East Peace process with the public and the cartoonists.
From Denny: The President continues to take criticism for doing the right thing - trying to broker a Middle East Peace solution of some kind between Israel and Palestine. You just can't ignore this Middle Eastern tinderbox like George Bush did. It's important to do something, no matter how small to advance a temporary solution. A little progress is preferable to full scale war and bloodshed. It's amazing how the Republicans - who fancy themselves as such great foreign policy advisers - have fallen down on the job with this thorny issue. All they do is harp against the President and step on his face as he tries to do some serious diplomatic work. But that's the point, now isn't it? The Republicans are so crazed to get back in power they don't care how they risk the lives of Americans traveling overseas or the American troops in the Middle East. Selfish is as selfish does when it comes to winner take all politics. So, the Republicans - and their propaganda arm Fox News - took another tack and decided to stir up the Religious Right like the no name Florida pastor who thought he was tough on Islamic terrorists by announcing he was going to burn 200 Koran books. What an idiot. His church bears the emblem of the Holy Spirit and the Peace Dove and yet this guy is out there promoting violence, in complete disobedience and rebellion against the teachings of the very Jesus Christ he claims to follow. What a fool. Meanwhile, the troops overseas are horrified at what he has done. It took the Secretary of Defense Gates to call a Florida imam to help lower the political and religious temperature with this crazed excuse for a Christian pastor. Hundreds of Christians pastors called this guy to ask him to stand down and he refused. It took the local fire ordinances and federal hate crime laws to shut down the stupidity - or that's how it appears on the surface. The reality of how these situations play out is that the FBI receives credible evidence of real death threats against this pastor and his family - if he still carries out his threat to burn the Korans. My guess is that the FBI did receive numerous letters detailing where the pastor, his family and closest friends and church members live, their full names and addresses and the like. Detailed information like that cannot be denied. This pastor didn't care how many other people he put at risk for getting killed until it came home to roost up close and personal. My guess is the wife and family told him to back off this lunatic Koran burning party or they were going to be the ones killing him. It's real easy to threaten to harm others - until the backlash of bad karma comes back to threaten a new reality. What a way to honor the nine year anniversary of 9/11...Obama and Middle East Peace initiative:

Majority in Poll Say America Still Not Ready For Big Disasters
*** Our government has a long way to go to convince Americans it can handle large scale natural or man made disasters.
From Denny: It's no surprise that most of my fellow Americans believe our government is still not ready to properly handle a big disaster. Pushing the nasty politics aside that the Republicans dished out onto the people of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, the largest American disaster ever, that definitely complicated matters - our government still suffers a lack of quality coordination and fast response times. The truth is that Bush and Cheney had dismantled key components of FEMA and other agencies, preventing them from reacting in a timely fashion and on a large enough scale. President Obama has had so many fires on so many fronts because of how the Republicans have crippled our government from being able to operate that Obama's attention has yet to rest upon restoring key elements of emergency response for inside America. It's been five years since Hurricane Katrina struck on 29 August 2005 and still this great country has yet to get its act together to handle severe emergencies. America is the only nation on this earth that has the most violent weather. With global warming that weather severity has increased. We are foolish not to address our infrastructure vulnerabilities and government responses. And it looks like a lot of America agrees that America still isn't ready - even after five years and now an oil spill disaster. This oil spill just highlighted how much our government agencies have to learn and how much Congress needs to get busy reining in and penalizing Big Business for running such shoddy operations that risk the economy and the safety of the American people. The nonpartisan Pew Research Center poll released today had these results where they surveyed equal numbers of Democrats, Republicans and Independents:* 57 percent say the country has not improved its disaster preparations* 38 percent said the country is more ready than it was.* 69 percent think progress has been made rebuilding New Orleans and the Gulf (As a Louisiana blogger I can tell you that we have made great strides).* People in the South - which includes Gulf Coast states - feel most strongly about it, with 75 percent saying progress has been made. In other regions, a combined 66 percent see progress. * Only 63 percent of Democrats were convinced than Republicans and Independents, saying reconstruction has moved ahead. * Pew conducted the poll from Aug. 19-22, interviewing 1,003 randomly chosen adults by telephone, including those on landlines and cell phones. The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 4 percentage points.Poll: 57% Say U.S. Still Not Ready for DisastersFive Years after Katrina, Just 38% of Respondents Think Country Is Better Prepared to Handle Natural Disasters*** NASA Photo of Hurricane Katrina *** THANKS for visiting, feel welcome to drop a comment or opinion, enjoy bookmarking this post on your favorite social site, a big shout out to awesome current subscribers – and if you are new to this blog, please subscribe in a reader or by email updates! *** Come by for a visit and check out my other blogs:The Social Poets - news, politicsThe Soul Calendar - science, astronomy, psychologyVisual Insights - photos, art, musicBeautiful Illustrated Quotations - spiritual quotes, philosophyPoems From A Spiritual Heart - poetryThe Healing Waters - health newsDennys People Watching - people in the newsDennys Food and RecipesDennys Funny Quotes - humor

Funny Video: Stewart Rips Fox News Lies About Ground Zero Mosque
*** Comics have endless material ripped from true headlines, like Fox News creating controversy to keep from sinking lower in the news ratings.

From Denny: Fox News has been on a desperate mission to pump up their news ratings as they are an abysmal last, trailing far behind the big networks. So, what to do? Well, start spouting racist garbage in an effort to galvanize what's left of their crazed base before they get exiled to retirement homes as far away from their kids as their kids can send them.
Stewart enjoys demonstrating to Fox News opining pundits just how contradictory they truly are by pulling their own news clips. Ridiculous is as ridiculous does. Stewart visited the bizarre debate in this country about the planned mosque building that is near not on Ground Zero.
Of course, Stewart's favorite to lampoon is really odd Glenn Beck who worries about Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man spearheading the project: "We don't know what he's planning to do in that cultural center." Roll tape and there is Imam Rauf actually sitting on the Fox News couch saying the same thing.
Stewart turns to British comic John Oliver to get his take on the controversial construction. Oliver pointed out that it's not a question of "right" or "wrong," but of "can" and "should." For example, "You can build a Catholic church next to a playground - but should you?"

Economy, Afghan War, America, World Politics Cartoons - 21 Aug 2010
*** This week's political opinion delivered through the national cartoonists.
From Denny: Collecting these cartoons every week really demonstrates the national mindset on an issue. I post the pros and the cons from the cartoonists - unless the opinion expressed is an obvious lie of propaganda manipulation or just plain hate. An honest opinion is acceptable even if a negative one. In the end, opinion is contingent upon all the facts getting delivered. Much of what passes for opinion in America is actually manufactured by political strategists working overtime to confuse Americans away from solving the problems in this great country. For, if Americans quit fighting each other - like over this wedge issue of the mosque building near not on Ground Zero in New York City - we would clearly see who is manipulating us against ourselves and what they have to gain by doing so. So, people like me plod on trying to get the weak minds in this country to stop screaming long enough to see how they are being manipulated against their own best interests. I'll let you know when - if ever - we get a "break through" in the uphill process. :)As to the Iraq War supposedly is over, well, it sure does not look like it. Just because 50,000 or so combat troops were pulled out and sent over to Afghanistan doesn't look like mission accomplished. It is simply not convincing when generals go before the media cameras to announce how they will be ready to rush back into Iraq if the Iraqis botch their own security. Either we are in or we are out, make a decision, Mr. President and stick to one side of the decision line. It's this kind of continual "hedging your bets" that Democrats do in public that hurts our party with the American people, making us easy targets for the Republican strategists to strike a bulls eye. This ambivalence is unacceptable. It's this constant wavering and uncertainty that has all of America so uncomfortable in the first place: the economy, jobs, excessively high unemployment to the tune of 20 percent in some large cities and now this war that is only "half over." The only way for leaders to calm a large country in chaotic times is to be definite, be certain and act decisively.Economy and Politics of Voting:

House Ethics issues never die for both sides of the aisle because politicians only think of themselves instead of the good of their party and the good of America:
