Obama, Team Obama Unfairly Piling On: Prosecutes Populist John Edwards

NC Senator John Edwards, wife Elizabeth on left, 3 children

From Denny:  In a politically motivated desperation move Obama has ordered the Dept. of Justice to go ahead and prosecute populist former Senator John Edwards when they could have settled this out of court without all the publicity This is an outrage and a complete waste of taxpayer monies.

Obama desperate to win in 2012 and fears other Democrats could challenge him

What is really going on here? Well, for one Obama is running scared politically since his poll numbers are sagging miserably. He and Team Obama desperately fear a front runner dark horse could appear out of nowhere to grab the Democratic nomination away from Obama. Clearly, they - Axelrod and Plouffe - believe the one possible dark horse with the personal fortune to do it is John Edwards.

Wisconsin: Voters Slap Down GOP, Female Dark Horse Wins State Supreme Court Seat

Wisconsin protests at the capitol, Madison, in March

From Denny:  An obscure election got the royal treatment from activists and voters. Voters so hated Gov. Scott Walker's controversial anti-union initiatives they came out in droves to defeat a GOP incumbent for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. The surprise dark horse vote came for Democrat unknown JoAnne Kloppenburg, down by an astounding 30 points right before the election. She is a state attorney general with support from several unions.

Election officials tallied her win at a razor thin 235 votes over the GOP incumbent of 12 years, Justice David Prosser, who is known to be sympathetic toward Gov. Walker's policies.  Prosser had come out of his primary with a 55 percent vote win.  Kloppenburg was second of four candidates with only 28 percent of that primary vote.  Prosser was expected to experience an easy runaway win - that fizzled because of unusually high voter turnout.

Clueless New House GOP Act Like Bozos On First Day

First day on the job and the House GOP do not know how to do their job.

WASHINGTON - NOVEMBER 02: House Minority Lead...Image by Getty Images via @daylife

From Denny:  Talk about bizarre political theater. Today the Republicans took over for their first day as Majority Party in the House. What did they do? They wasted your tax dollars and mine by spending the day reading aloud the Constitution. Can you believe it? We taxpayers give them free health care for which they begrudge the rest of us. We taxpayers give them an outrageous $168,000 a year salary for a part-time job. They have the nerve to waste our money, our time - and insult our intelligence - by reading the Constitution aloud like a bunch of fourth graders in a bad readers reading class.

Obama Presidency: Dead On Arrival in 2012?

Obama faces a hostile Democratic Party for 2012 reelection.

From Denny:  A Presidency that held a lot of promise is now in its dying stages. The problem is this White House still does not realize it. How can this be true? Like what is the big deal that after the off-year 2010 midterm election the House switched into the hands of Republican control? Like "So, What!" That happens to almost every President after two years in office.

Well, sad to say, this year the attitude of the Democratic Party is vastly different. Democrats are ready to throw Obama from the train. Normally, you would think everyone would calm down after a shellacking election like this one and just accept the new reality. That is what usually happens.

Angry voters turn out good Democrats with the bad in favor of odious Republicans in order to teach Obama a lesson about ignoring what the voters want:

Steve Benson

The Big However that makes this election cycle different is that Obama and Team Obama have continually rebuffed their own base of liberals and progressives on literally everything for the entire past two years. They have not governed as Democrats nor honored any of the promises Obama made during his campaign: close the terrorist jail in Cuba, stop the Iraq and Afghan Wars immediately, transparency in government, create jobs and bring in the public option for health care - among a few promises broken. After all, it was Obama who took out the public option cheaper alternative from the health care reform bill, essentially weakening the bill to weak as lukewarm water. It does little to help the general public, and, in fact, is now driving up the price of health care premiums beyond the current too expensive level.

The latest and most cruel development are the new health care "plans" that offer no premiums but extreme deductibles - to the tune of levels like $7,000 and higher.  That's outrageous and most people don't possess that kind of savings any more since this economy began its massive job losses.  It would take five years to save the deductible for most families - if ever.  People are insuring themselves is what it has amounted to now.  And you wonder why the public is furious with President Obama?  Why isn't he doing anything to curb outrageous business practices and prices?

Democrats wake up to new reality: It's time to look for someone other than Obama in 2012.

Chip Bok

Why would it be said the once-promising first African-American presidency is now not only a Lame Duck presidency but completely dead on arrival?  The Democrats were polled after this election cycle and some startling news was revealed.

* How many want a primary challenger to Obama for the 2012 presidential election?  At this early date already 42 percent want someone other than Obama as their presidential candidate in 2012.

* How many will not vote for Obama if he is the Democrat's candidate in 2012?  Here we are at two years before that election and already 48 percent are speaking it out loud they will refuse to vote for Obama in 2012.  How many more are there that are not willing to say it out loud just yet - or are still conflicted about voting for him and in the deciding phase?

* What the polling is saying is that there are six percent of Democrats who will vote for a Republican if Obama is the 2012 candidate.  That's a chilling figure that is sure to rise.  As it is in the current polling across America, and with all political affliations, it's the generic Republican who can win over Obama by five points.  Republican Mitt Romney can win against Obama by five points too.  Palin is no worry but there are plenty of other Republicans who can win over Obama.  Expect Obama to be set aside by the super delegates no matter what he thinks he can do to get the nomination for 2012.  He is not going to get reelected to the White House.  It would take a miracle at this point.  He would have to do a complete reversal of attitude and deeds to convince the House and Senate Democrats he has disrespected the past two years.

What's happening inside the Democratic Party right now is that the House and Senate Democrats are organizing to push Obama aside.  After all, he has refused to cooperate with any of them for two years now, not meeting any of the Democratic agenda.  Minority Speaker-elect Pelosi has already promised she will block Obama from easily compromising with the GOP.  Why should Democrats compromise with the Republicans on anything when to a person they have never voted on anything with the Democrats for the past two years?  It's a stupid strategy plain and simple.  Obama has spent so much time trying to get the Republicans to like and respect him that he has lost the confidence and goodwill of his own Democrats who now despise him.

Can't Obama do an about face in attitude and deeds to achieve his Zen of getting reelected?  Well, it appears he does not have the interest to do so.  How is that so?  Currently, he was begged by Democratic leaders to bring in new blood into the White House to get past the closed ranks of the corrupt Chicago political machine mindset.  What is he doing to address that?  Obama is currently reschuffling his players.  They are all the same people that he is placing in different positions.

He is even going to put Carol Browner from EPA in as Chief of Staff.  What a mess that will be.  Remember her?  She's the jerk who was too arrogant to listen to her agency people who warned her about using dispersants during the BP Oil Spill Disaster.  Those dispersants further polluted the Gulf of Mexico.  But at least Obama and BP got what they wanted.  The dispersants broke up the oil into smaller bits that could not be picked up and sank to the bottom of the ocean where it is currently clumping together at depths too deep to collect.  Had they left well enough alone the oil could have been scooped up off the surface by the super tankers.  But instead, Obama and BP were a lot more concerned about burying the problem from public view.  Out of sight, they figured, is out of mind.  Of course, they were wrong on that call as well.  EPA Chief Browner  went against good science and experience and flaggantly used the cancer-causing disperants anyway.  Clearly, she is weak and willing to promote any lie Team Obama and Big Business wants promoted.

Currently, President Obama is again bowing to Republican pressure on extending the Bush Tax Cuts to the wealthiest Americans as well as the middle class.  There is no reason he should compromise yet he says he plans to do so.  Liberals, progressives, the entire Democratic Party is fed up with this weak as rainwater attitude and poor negotiating tactics from this President.  Clearly, he is not the populist the Democrats thought they elected.  What's more is that if he gives in and paves the way for the extension of the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthiest it will be the deal-breaker Democrats have said will cause them to set aside Obama for a 2012 reelection.

Obama is so overly self-protective, like President Nixon, that he is going the way of an historical anomaly, dissed by historians for being a Do Nothing President who was tone deaf to the needs of the American people.  What a sad ending to the Era of Civil Rights.  Now the Democrats will have such a bad taste in their mouths for promoting minorities that it will be decades before another black minority gets a chance at the presidential nomination.  I wonder what the chances are for women to get the presidential nod by the Democrats?  Only time will tell.

Popular President Clinton On The Economy, Mid-Term Election, Wedding

America's most popular ex-President talks about how to get the economy jumpstarted and the serious erosion of the middle class if the election is turned over to the Republicans.

From Denny:  Former President Bill Clinton keeps rising in popularity as President Obama descends that ladder. America is restless. Since Obama was elected the middle class has grown increasingly disappointed we are left out in the cold - again - by the Democratic Party that used to support the middle class against Big Business eroding our wealth, our stability, our hopes for the future.  The people ARE the economy and when the people have lost confidence the economy slides down into despair.

Democrats: 400 Groups Rally This Weekend 4 Jobs and Votes

Liberal groups march in Washington, D.C. this weekend to press for jobs and encourage voting.

From Denny: Are you tired of the unending bizarre nonsense coming out of the mouths of the extreme right like conservative talk show hosts Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh?

Well, the Democrats are finally starting to organize the yardcats, bringing them to the government's back yard. Banding together in solidarity are 400 groups comprised of labor unions as well as progressive and civil rights groups.

America and The Economy Cartoons - 11 Sept 2010

America's economic sugar high is a rocky roller coaster ride that no one knows where it will go. Check out the latest cartoonist opinions. From Denny: The Prez's popularity numbers have been rocky for some time and are on the upswing as he has tightened his message and gone on the offensive against unpatriotic Republicans. For two years now, Americans have suffered unemployment to the tune of almost 20 million now looking for jobs. Many more millions are underemployed. That explains the high home foreclosure rate across the country. The Republicans continue to hold the middle class hostage by refusing every step of the way to solve unemployment problems, even refusing to fund unemployment benefits for four long months as people figure out how to survive in this tough economy. How do these politicians sleep at night knowing how much suffering they have inflicted upon fellow Americans? The President is still trying to pass legislation to help send loans to small businesses to survive - yet the Republicans continue to deny small business people what they need: cash. You see the Big Banks took the federal stimulus monies and then refused to make loans as expected. Frankly, Mr. President, I would start strong-arming those Big Business fools and demand back my money. If they won't employ the money as intended then take it back and redeploy it elsewhere in the economy where it can do some good. And while you are at it reining in Big Business amoral dealings, how about taking away ALL their tax breaks? That's right. The American middle class is fed up with Big Business practices of getting tax breaks and then sending American jobs overseas. Why should they be allowed to station their headquarters here in America if they refuse to hire to the level of 90 percent Americans? Why should they get federal monies when they turn around and scoop it for their quarterly profits and then shed thousands of jobs here? You have got to stop these unethical practices or you will surely lose in the election cycle of 2012.Robert AriailRobert AriailChip BokModerately ConfusedDrew ShenemanLisa BensonGary VarvelJerry HolbertSteve SackBruce BeattieGary VarvelSteve SackGary VarvelSigne WilkinsonSigne WilkinsonSteve KelleyLisa BensonChip BokGary VarvelChip Bok*** More cartoon political opinion from this week:Prez Obama, Democrats, Trouble With Political Message Cartoons - 11 Sept 2010 - Cartoonists lampoon, and downright blast, the Democrats for doing a lousy job of getting out their message.*** THANKS for visiting, feel welcome to drop a comment or opinion, enjoy bookmarking this post on your favorite social site, a big shout out to awesome current subscribers – and if you are new to this blog, please subscribe in a reader or by email updates! *** Come by for a visit and check out my other blogs:The Social Poets - news, politicsThe Soul Calendar - science, astronomy, psychologyVisual Insights - photos, art, musicBeautiful Illustrated Quotations - spiritual quotes, philosophyPoems From A Spiritual Heart - poetryThe Healing Waters - health newsDennys People Watching - people in the newsDennys Food and RecipesDennys Funny Quotes - humor

Is Obama A Lame Duck Already? Fire Team Obama to Survive

*** Team Obama is floundering. Time to create a new White House team that is serious about good governing in tough economic times.Obama presidency becoming a lame duck at a fast paceFrom Denny: It looks like Prez Obama is at a crossroads for decision crunch time. Many Presidents find themselves in this uncomfortable position about two years into office when the midterm elections are looming large and look unfavorable. The team that helped get Obama into the White House is not the team who can keep him in the White House. It's clear to everyone in the Democratic Party - and the opposition party as well.Wrong White House team thinks small and local - not national and internationalThis presidency looks to be shaping up negatively much like the Carter presidency in one glaring respect: he has hometown people with a small local political mindset trying to run an international government. It isn't working. The Chicago mindset doesn't work any better than the Georgia mindset did decades ago. Mr. President, you and I both know that God Himself has had a "Come to Jesus Meeting" with you for the past week and a half about firing most of your team. Write it on a rock and take it to the bank: if God is keeping you awake at nights telling you what to do and how to do it then get serious and act upon His recommendations. It's called your conscience.Blood-letting at the White House: Fire GibbsIt's time for a serious blood-letting at this White House. Lose Press Secretary Gibbs and his Deputy who have done a miserable job of getting out the Democrats' message. They have half-stepped every step of the way, thumbing through the Rove political playbook thinking they can fool their own Democratic voters. Just what drugs are they taking to be so foolish as to think their arrogance does not stick out all over them?Fire Axelrod, wrong senior advisorLose Axelrod and his entire staff as they were the driving force of ruining your popularity. Now they have dug the grave on your entire historic presidency and it is about to be relegated to the history books as a serious negative. Axelrod never served you well from the very beginning.Fire Emanuel: when the chief of staff has a bad attitude the whole team stinks from the head downLose Emanuel and his staff as, well, it's clear Emanuel is emotionally fried and just can't stay in politics anymore on any level. He's cooked; put a fork in him because he is done. When you go around spitting on your own Democrats then you have the arrogance to think "you are too big to fail." Wrong. November elections will prove it too.Consider Tom Daschle as new chief of staff who can effectively advance your Democratic agendaReplace Emanuel with former Senator Tom Daschle. Why? Because Daschle is known for several things that the current Team Obama is now lacking: finesse with the opposition party, cleverness in knowing how to outwit the opposition party and, most of all, he understands the whole point of being a politician is to be of service to the people you govern. Right now you have an entire crew who mocks that honorable philosophy and are just about taking home an easy paycheck. You just can't tolerate that in these dire economic times. Change out the entire team. Let the White House blood-letting begin. Be presidential: make the hard decisionsIf you don't do these hard decisions of people you thought were your friends, then you sure don't need to go looking for enemies for you will have an entire political party of them - just like Jimmy Carter to this day. Are you sure you want to spend the rest of your life in the political out house? How to clean up this political mess of a presidencyWhile it's clear that you, Mr. President, never actually figured you would find yourself in this presidency so soon, well, you are here now and it's time to act like a President instead of a political animal. Start governing fast and furious in favor of the middle class and you will have no problem getting re-elected or restoring your popularity. The negatives will become a distant memory for most people as they will focus upon all the good you managed to accomplish after a rough start in the beginning of your presidency. Today is the day for you to make the hard decisions. You have run out of time with the American people.*** THANKS for visiting, feel welcome to drop a comment or opinion, enjoy bookmarking this post on your favorite social site, a big shout out to awesome current subscribers – and if you are new to this blog, please subscribe in a reader or by email updates!

How Male Journalists Fight: Whiz All Over Each Other

*** American male journalists in the Democratic Party and the White House fuss and fight each other while the public is frustrated about the economy.Press Secretary Robert Gibbs who should be reporting the news - not becoming the newsFrom Denny: It's roll your eyes time. "The children" are fighting it out in public. What is it when men get a little bit of power they start the whizzing contests of who can whiz farther than their competitor? If it isn't White House "behavior problems" it's progressive writers "behavior problems" lobbing word grenades at each other like it's a silly comedy movie for thirteen year olds. You all should be embarrassed - or taken to the woodshed. Your squabbling while the country is in dire economic straits looks like a bunch of frat boys careening around town on their father's wallet - only this time it's on the taxpayers' wallet. And the public's perception is there is far too much entitlement going on here in government and the media. This "Mama Grizzly" is not too pleased. Don't make me come up to the Big House and box your ears and bounce you off a few walls, chic slapping you so hard you end up into next week. Apologize to each other like grown-ups. Kiss and make up - and make damn sure it looks convincing so the Democratic Party doesn't come off looking like a bunch of Bozo Sapiens. And, while you are at it, tell your obnoxious egos to shut up and sit down. There is governing to do in this great country.

Earth to White House: Why You Are Getting Criticized

*** The White House is complaining it is not appreciated enough for what it has done. Here's why fellow Democrats are angry with the President.Press Secretary Gibbs' TiradeFrom Denny: Today there was quite the tirade from Press Secretary Gibbs about how this White House is getting criticized from every angle, especially sectors of its own party. While I can understand Gibbs' "AlaDamnBama" Southern temper, as well as his frustration working in a White House during a time when the country is on its knees, the outburst was not his best moment. Democratic base is unhappy with corporate-pleasing politicians in their own partyThe entire Democratic Party is furious with this White House. Why? Because Obama campaigned on one thing and did not deliver any of it. They make promises that are always in the future instead of in the present. They have put off any real hard-charging agenda to create jobs or arm twist Big Business into doing right by employees. The list is practically endless how Big Business, Big Banks, credit card companies, health care insurance and the rest of the insurance industry have escaped any consequences for their actions. The public option health care was promised during the campaign and never delivered so Americans still over pay for health care. All of these are pocketbook issues for the average American and we just can't afford to absorb any more expenses for anything. We, in the Gulf Coast region and especially Louisiana, have been absorbing huge rising costs since Hurricane Katrina hit back in August 2005. That's five years of constant hardship along with more piled on recently from the oil spill and a weak economy with huge job losses. And you wonder why you are getting criticized?Prez Obama worked on bipartisanship with Republicans that has failed with the "Party of No!"While it is understandable this President meant well to try and bring down the political temperature in Washington by constantly wooing the Republicans, well, clearly it's time to give up the romance after an eighteen month courtship. Republicans will never like a Democratic President, especially a black one which is clear while viewing the increasing rate of their racist hysteria barfing all over America promoted in the Tea Party rallies. As long as people choose to hold onto racism no President is going to win on that front. This country will just have to wait for the racists to die off in this generation.Iraq War still continues for far too longBut what this President can do is fulfill his promises to his own party who elected him: stop the Iraq War. Is it any wonder that when the President announced the ending of the Iraq War starts on 31 August 2010 that the news story was met with a thud in the media and blogosphere? We have had far too many promises and great speeches from this White House that went three steps forward and then five steps backward. In short, Prez Obama's credibility is on the line. The famous quotation that applies here is this: "What you do thunders so loudly I can't hear what you are saying."Addressing the stresses of the Iraq War on the troopsInstead of allowing this Iraq War business to drag out yet another eighteen months before all the troops are out of Iraq, rush it up and have them all out by Christmas. No kidding. These troops who have been fighting in Iraq need some serious time out to power down and relieve excessive stress. In fact, as they come home the military needs to get serious and keep them on base for another six to eight months as they debrief them and get them some serious PTSD counseling before allowing them to go home to their families. Families can be allowed to visit during this transition time - but visit at the base or detention area. It's important to make sure each and every soldier coming back can handle the stress of transition back into American culture. If you have never lived overseas then you may not understand it takes time to get your head back into the home culture. That process is severely impaired when a person has been at war for years, on several tours of duty. They could be a menace to themselves, their families and the public if this troop return is not properly handled. Too many of our troops are committing suicide because of the effects of this war. We need to be mindful of their stress and their medical needs when they first arrive - not after the fact when something horrific has occurred.Afghanistan WarFor a time it looks like the Afghan War will have to continue until we route the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Maybe we will get lucky and this Mother Nature flooding will have done a lot of the job for us. It's a lot more difficult to be a rough and tough Taliban guy when you got flooded out, your family is either dead or displaced, relief supplies are unable to get to you because of washed out bridges and roads, you don't have any food and are just trying to survive day to day. This disaster certainly reduces the amount of Taliban supporters and Taliban troops our military will have to fight.Fast track the end to the Afghan WarEven so, there has to be an early time table on this war too. The American taxpayer is no longer made of money with the majority of the high-paying jobs now outsourced out of America. The American treasury just isn't taking in the big money it once did. Historically, what always bankrupts a country is war, especially long wars like the ones America has fought. What George Bush started Barack Obama needs to finish and finish quickly. The public is weary of war and the devastating effects upon our economy and our psyche. If this President wants the public to get optimistic about what this White House has done to slow the slide of shed jobs, then he has to do something dramatic to give people relief. Constant war just doesn't make for happy people by any one's definition.Do these Democrats deserve to remain in power? If this Democratic political team is not mentally tough enough to handle the nation's problems and fulfill what they promised their voters - and keeps whining about not feeling appreciated - then perhaps they should think seriously about abdicating their power. The military in the Iraq and Afghan Wars have been dealing with extreme horrific stress for year after year yet you don't hear them whining when they certainly have earned whining rights. If this White House cannot deal with a mere eighteen months of stress then you are not the leaders you believe yourselves to be. Time for the federal government to use its power and hire AmericaThe nation is in dire disstress and everyone is looking to you to get your "A" game going in high gear. While it's obvious to everyone that turning around the jobs sector is virtually an impossible job to get done in record time, keeping the word "impossible" in the Democratic vocabulary just does not inspire confidence with the American public. The only way to turn around the jobs sector is for the government to start hiring by the thousands for public works like was done under President Roosevelt during the Great Depression. Where to find the money for hiring America Ending the hideously expensive two front wars will supply and free up the funds necessary to put Americans back to work. Yes, it's that simple to be the super hero of the day. Even so, you are still looking at a five to seven year transition for the currently unemployed to be employed long enough to affect the economy positively. It's better than what this White House is facing now: fifteen years before any real recovery. Rebuild America's infrastructureSpeed up the process by directly hiring the unemployed into government work projects necessary all across the nation. Our infrastructure is groaning under the lack of maintenance and upgrading needs: highways, interstates, lakes, oceans, ports, trains, airports, bridges, energy plants from the coal to electrical to nuclear; the list is long - and I haven't started on the military needs like upgrading the deteriorating Coast Guard fleet that is held together with the equivalent of duct tape. Time for this White House to invest in fellow Americans: hire them directlyWe have the manpower to throw at all these problems if our government will only invest in its own people. The Democrats should not be afraid to invest in our own people, fretting over what the critics will say or do. This White House cannot wait for Big Business to do the job. Our own government must do this job of putting America back to work. It will create buzz. It will create more than hope. It will create a positive atmosphere again for that's what this country is missing: its joy.Journalist discussing Press Secretary Gibbs outburst of this White House getting criticized and feeling the pressure from his own Democrats

BP Plays Games With Oil Spill, Democrats Face Huge Losses in November

*** The Democrats and the Republicans refuse to solve the problems in this country and are allowing it to fall into the economic abyss. BP screws over rightful claimants.BP playing games with people's livesFrom Denny: For all the efforts of the Obama White House, BP continues to play games with people's lives down here on the Gulf Coast. There's even an attorney in Texas who has been suing BP for years and says this typical bad attitude and stingy behavior is their SOP - standard operating procedure.BP's Dirty Little Legal StrategiesBP attorneys know that average people can't hold out for long. The average middle class person does not have the cash reserves of a multi-national corporation. It's a game of "wait and see who blinks first" because the average person cannot hold out beyond a few months. They cash in their kids' college funds, deplete their savings and retirement accounts, sell off stocks and bonds, you name it - all to pay the groceries and stay afloat another day. Eventually, the average middle class person runs out of things to sell or accounts to raid and they are cooked, forced into bankruptcy court. Going into bankruptcy court is exactly the tactic BP is playing because, again, it will delay by months, maybe years, any reckoning for BP. BP gets to walk away free as a bird while leaving a wide swath of devastation in their wake.BP is counting on the average people hurt by this environmental disaster, mostly very small businesses, to fold and take a small settlement for all their financial ruin and emotional anguish. There are thousands of people who have rightful claims who are being delayed for months or denied for capricious reasons. No matter how many times the national media have reported this outrageous behavior from BP the practices have not stopped. The President must step in to discipline BPIt's time for the President to step in and resolve this garbage from BP. For the federal government to go around suing Arizona over what is an impractical law to enforce anyway and then suing Louisiana because they are trying to keep their economy afloat is not what I expect from my federal government. Both states are strapped for funds, only making the situations far worse for the populace. The federal government should be in the business of suing Big Business for all the havoc they have wreaked upon this economy by sending jobs overseas that started this tumbling into unpaid debts. Big Banks have yet to be brought to heel like the behemoth junkyard dogs they are, taking advantage of biting the public just "because they can," knowing no one will put a stop to their shady bullying practices. From the very beginning of this oil spill environmental disaster, BP started sledgehammering the surviving oil workers - from the 22 April explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig - by forcing them to sign waivers that BP was not at fault. That happened within hours of being rescued at sea and the survivors were taken to yet another offshore oil rig to be interrogated and pressured into signing away their rights to sue BP for injuries. Funny thing, though, those oil rigs are within our national waters as well as within Louisiana jurisdiction. It's a long standing tradition in Louisiana, because of the old French Napoleonic Code, that you can never sign away your rights, even under duress. The courts protect the rights of the average citizen. At the rate we are going it actually may be the Louisiana courts who will save the day instead of who should be the standard bearers for the American people: our federal government and the President. As it stands, the now increasingly desperate middle class does not have a champion in this White House and we have not had a champion to fight for us for ten years now. The American people cannot hold out any longer. Something must be done.November Elections could prove tragic for allOf course, the American people are primed to take matters into their own hands come election time this November. The House is said to have about a possible 67 seat loss if the voting attitude remains ugly. The Senate is looking at losing anywhere from three to ten seats for the Democrats. This Democratic Congress frittered away their majority by passing useless and often damaging legislation, still not taking care of the middle class. All they did was answer to their Big Business handlers.Speaker Pelosi, an American political heroine under appreciatedThe notable exception was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who has done all the heavy lifting by delivering almost 300 passed bills. What did Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid accomplish? He passed only one bill - gift-wrapped by Pelosi. All of those bills should have been easy slam dunks. Reid needs to be replaced. Clearly, he is no former Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle who cleverly outmaneuvered the Republicans at every turn to make the most for the Democrats. Speaking of Daschle, this White House needs to hire him and use his organizational skills to head up this economic initiative I've suggested in my last posts. Either that or get him to teach the next Senate leader how to handle the heat and get things passed in a timely manner and not watered down into oblivion.Democrats gang up on Press Secretary Gibbs for speaking the truthMany Democratic leaders are angry at Press Secretary Gibbs for speaking the obvious. First of all, he was not hired to be a diplomat or a politician. He's a journalist and a man of integrity. Lay off his one yard line. He isn't the problem; you are. The public is angry at all the politicians for handling huge problems so ineptly and not in a timely manner. Don't take it out on Gibbs for speaking to the truth of your political consequences where you have fallen down on the job. Do the job we hired you to do. We hired all of you and we can fire you. It's time the American public get some respect around here. You are in office to serve us - not the other way around. Get that thought straight in your heads and we will finally be on the same page to pull together to get problems solved.Get Axelrod out of the daily White House NOWThe whole reason this White House trotted out Gibbs for the talk shows is because they did some polling to discover that Axelrod polls lousy. People do trust Gibbs as he polls well with the public. People don't trust Axelrod and it's no wonder as his own body language betrays him. The man is always sneering contempt at others. Watch him in interview with Jon Stewart, a case in point of many. Stewart kept backing up with aversion from Axelrod who was trying to blow some charm past him. Stewart clearly did not trust or like Axelrod.Put Axelrod out in the political field for electionsIf this White House actually wants to continue to hold onto Axelrod then get him out of the daily White House, off the talk shows, and back into the political field getting candidates elected. That's what he is good enough at doing and that is all he should be doing. He has failed miserably at policy advice, especially the domestic agenda. His calls have hit it wrong every time for 18 months now. Don't allow Axelrod's bad prognosticating to take down this first African-American presidency just because you don't have the stomach to part ways with an old friend. Who needs friends that stab you in the back at every turn? Axelrod is not just tone deaf he is heart deaf and truly cannot identify or understand those who are suffering in this country. Move him and his aides down the road where they can be useful. How the American public is getting ready to vote: no more corporate politiciansWhat both the Democrats and the Republicans are not paying enough attention to is that the public is so disillusioned with the political process they will not vote at all. The flip side of that scenario is they just may decide to vote and will start voting in all the obscure political candidates. If you think you have a mess now arguing over political philosophies and trying to pass legislation, welcome to the chaotic world of twenty different political parties sitting at the table instead of two. The public may just hit on the idea to only vote in non-corporate politicians, if they have to reach down to the third tier candidates to get any real representation. That's going to put in office some real loony tunes like the Tea Party, the Modern Whig Party or communists. Then there are others like the Libertarians who basically don't believe in government and would dismantle all the safety regulations in place. The Green Party is worldwide and promotes some great ideas but refuses to protect the citizens with any force. Here's just a short list of possibilities that could either improve or screw up our politics beyond repair:America First Party - conservativeAmerican Party - conservativeAmerica's Independent Party - conservativeBoston Tea Party - conservativeCommunist Party of the United States of America - communistFlorida Whig Party - conservativeGreen Party - world wide party promoting social and economic justice, ecological wisdom, non-violence.Independence Party of America - populistModerate Party - democracy and peaceful securityModern Whig Party - conservativeNational Socialist Movement - socialistObjectivist Party - Fiscal: Laissez-faire, Social: IndividualismParty for Socialism and Liberation - Communism, Marxism-Leninism brandPeace and Freedom Party - left wing socialist and feministProgressive Labor Party - global armed communist revolutionProhibition Party - from 1869 they still promote fiscal and social conservatismReform Party of the United States of America - Ross Perot's populism and centrismSocialist Equality Party - anti-war, pro-choice, socialist economicsSocialist Party USA - democratic socialismSocialist Workers Party - socialism since 1938United States Marijuana Party - Anti-Prohibitionism. This party is a real grinner, however, should politics turn sour in America, just think of how many people would put in office a politician from this party just for a reality joke.Unity Party of America - centrism with a lot of members in many states, fiscal and social moderatesWorkers Party - left wing of anti-imperialism and anti-capitalismWorking Families Party - progressive, populism, social democracyA Job For Every American PolicyThe country is past due allowing patience with our politicians. The time is now for this White House to put the full court press on turning things around: the economy. You can't campaign on Hope, sell Hope and then refuse to deliver. Hope isn't about thinking things will get better so just sit tight and wait a few decades. Hope is about the impending call to action and the immediate work to procure tangible results. This White House's new slogan should be: A job for every American. FDR had his chicken in every pot during the crushing starvation of the Great Depression. Now, it's Obama's turn to create jobs. Americans want to earn their way in life. Provide the tools for them to do it. "A job for every American." Sounds good to me.Here's a few interesting news links:Gulf Residents Grow Desperate in BP Claim WaitMoney, Patience Wearing Thin for Tens of Thousands Whose Claims Oil Company Hasn't Decided to PayMary Landrieu: Drilling Moratorium Could Cost More Jobs than Oil SpillCongress turns to task of preventing another Gulf oil spillMembers of a House committee on Wednesday began shaping a bill that targets the problems laid bare by the Gulf oil spill, from lax regulation to inadequate accident-response plans.BP Oil Spill: Is it time for the Pentagon to take over? The BP oil spill relief effort lacks a clear command-and-control structure, senators said at a hearing Friday.
